We stopped on our way to NYC and we are so glad that we did. I loved the place. A lovely part of history to visit, peaceful, calm and the people were so nice. We will be going back.

Took a detour on our way home to Jersey from Boston. The kids wanted to see the old cemetery. It was pretty cool, had no idea how many famous people are buried there. Will have to go back to do the night tour with lanterns!

Great place to visit. Can drive and/or walk the cemetery. Took a lantern night tour which was good and plenty of resting places to visit during the day. Recommended

Very well kept and full of history and lore. The fact that this cemetery is so iconic in American literature, it definitely makes it a special place to visit.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery should be on your itinerary if you're in this area. It has a lot of history, not just with the books/movies about the Headless Horseman (you can see the bridge here, although it's not the one from the movie), but many famous people are interred here as well, from Rockefellers to Carnegies. The grounds are well kept overall, and there is a nice peaceful atmosphere. Since the grounds are so large, you can often find yourself alone while you're walking or driving around (there are driveable paths). Check out some of the huge mausoleums that the Rockefellers purchased as their final resting place. Andrew Carnegie and his wife are buried side by side. The Queen of Mean Leona Helmsley is here in a $1.4 million mausoleum showing the skyline of Manhattan in stained glass. You can also see some neat crypts that are built into the hillside. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
