“Pet friendly hotel in Southampton”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2012

Great location in the town near the movie theater, shops and stores. Lovely grounds with nice restaurant for breakfast and lunch either inside or outside. Rooms are clean but not fancy. They have a shuttle bus to Cooper Beach. Pricey but not luxurious. If you want to travel to the Hamptons with your pet, this is one of the few places where you can stay.

Checked out of here after a 3 day stay last Friday.
Pictures are pretty, place is old and tired, not at all as the online photos represent.
Staff not very consistant in the information they provide. In addition, upon check out I have red spots (bites?) from my ankles to my knees. Dr says "could be bedbugs". ICK.

I suggest finding someplace else to stay!

We are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us. However, to say that the bites you discovered on your legs, after going home, were posibly the result of bed bugs at our facility is very disturbing to us. Especially when you made no attempt to contact us about it directly. We do not have bed bugs at the Southampton Inn. This issue is a very serious one as we take the health and safety of our guest very seriously.

Regards,
The Southampton Inn

The town was beautiful and the property advertised itself as luxury stay, but the stay was anything but. The service from some of the staff was just not very professional. One of the female staff at the front desk was cursing after getting off the phone when I arrived at the front desk. To be fair, some of the staff were nice, but overall, training seemed to be lacking and the service quality was sub par. The rooms were clean, but the walls and floors were super thin, and I could hear anything that goes on in the rooms nearby. The A/C was loud, and the wireless internet did not work. Overall, not a pleasant stay at all.

We stayed as a family of 4 adults and 2 children for 2 nights midweek.we had 2 rooms which were large and comfortable. The bathrooms were small but adequate. There were plenty of plugs in the room. The beds were very comfortable but the air con was very noisy
We ate breakfast in the hotel . The breakfast room was fairly dark but OK. The service was excellent and the variety of dishes good.
The children were able to swim and play table tennis, tennis and generally enjoy themselves.
The position of the hotel is in close proximity to spas, cinema, shops and loads of restaurants.
We had been quite nervous before going to Southampton Inn because we had read some very disparaging reviews after we had booked. Many visitors should appreciate this is not a 5 star hotel and doesn't pretend to be so. It is a good, well run place, spotlessly clean and well maintained. They were painting, gardening and cleaning everywhere whilst we were there in preparation for the season. We had an enjoyable stay despite appalling weathe rand would recommend it for a stay in the Hamptons.

Lovely to arrive the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to find that the reservation was lost (despite confirmation, etc) due to technical issue with their website -- they were in fact booked all weekend. I get sometimes technology is at fault, but Inn ought to be accountable for the business decision.

Experience was a complete hassle with the alternate accomodations they arranged (meaning well, granted) being more expensive and lackluster... and further, the Inn managed to charge our card for a room they never had for us!

Conclusion: this place does have a decent location if spartan appointments, but overall needs to step up their operation and get it together to be worth recommending.

Advice: Seek any/all alternatives, pass on Southampton Inn.

Short stay in May.

Room - very spacious and clean, huge bed, well-sized tv, sofa. But a bit clinical and lacking in any character.

Bed - memory foam mattress which should lend itself to an extremely comfortable night's sleep. However I found it really uncomfortable and had some of the worst night's sleep during my 10 day trip to the US.

Noise - despite being almost empty when we were staying, for some reason they put me in an connecting room, separated by a very thin door. And for some reason they put another guest in the adjoining room. Minimal sound insulation meant that I could hear noise from my neighbour loud and clear, and the noise from the rooms on the floor above sounded as though someone was moving furniture around all evening. Really poor.

Breakfast - literally just a bowl of muffins and tea/coffee (more often than not luke-warm, so we frequently had to ask for the water to be replaced). Very disappointing and could hardly be described as 'breakfast'.

Wireless - excellent.

General - this place had a real motel feel to it, despite charging hotel prices. Swimming pool was closed, tennis court (as described by previous reviewer) in poor condition. Whole place felt a little bit derelict so had a slightly odd feel.

Couldn't really recommend. Looks like there are better B&Bs not far away.

Three day visit last week, so early May. We had two spacious rooms, well equipped, comfortable beds. Access to the internet was free, unlike other hotels in New York (Long Island) and there was a nice, spacious "library" with plenty of books and papers.. But, oh dear, the insulation was almost non existent so that if someone in a neighbouring room took a shower it sounded as if it was in our room. And when anyone walked on the floor above the sound of their footsteps was very loud.
Pretty garden but the swimming pool was closed and the tennis court full of cracks and moss. And the breakfast was very minimal.
Not cheap.

Room Tip: given the lack of insulation it might be better to be on the higher floor.
