“Wonderful B&B in the country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2012

We recently returned from a trip to Boston, where we stayed at the Lime Kiln Bed & Breakfast as a halfway point just outside of Cooperstown, NY. Patricia and her husband Lou were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome! After spending all morning driving and the afternoon in Cooperstown, the Lime Kiln was a perfectly relaxing stop on our journey. From playing cards on the front porch, to looking for frogs in the pond, to chatting with our hosts in the back yard and spotting fire flies, it was a wonderful way to finish off our day. We stayed in the downstairs room, which was spotlessly clean and very spacious. The attached private bathroom was also very clean and nice. The room was at the side of the house, so there was still very much a feeling of privacy and not invading Patricia and Lou’s space in the house.

Our morning breakfast was delicious. French toast – my favourite! A nice hearty meal to set us well on our journey. Patricia was kind enough to send along a few extra treats for our trip, which was most appreciated.

The location is off the beaten trail, so if you enjoy the countryside, fresh air, and peaceful nights, this is definitely the place to be. It’s not too far from Cooperstown, and as I learned, many of the other local attractions in the area. The price was affordable, which always helps! I couldn’t have asked for a better stay or nicer hosts!! I wholeheartedly recommend this bed & breakfast and would definitely stay there again should my travels return me to the area.

We stayed at the Lime Kiln while visiting our son, working as an intern at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival. We chose the Lime Kiln because it is less than 15 minutes from the Opera. The B & B turned out to be an integral part of our vacation! Patricia has two rooms available. The one we occupied was super-clean and comfortable, with a serene view of farmland. The location is quite rural, so don't expect to just "run out" for something you forgot. The breakfasts were delicious, but we were not overwhelmed with food. We enjoyed chatting with Patricia and her husband, and left there feeling like we were leaving as friends, not guests. It is a small house, so you do feel to some extent that you are sharing their home, but we didn't mind that. It is a charming place, and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: We did not see the upstairs room, but the downstairs room is more private.
