“Gem of a place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

I had visited this place on day of my return to India from JFK. My colleagues accompanied me to this place in Staten Island. We ordered a variety of dishes in Chettinad style and the my colleagues thoroughly enjoyed that Chicken 65. The dosas were good almost to the same quality as that of best in class restaurants in south india. Everyone liked the food and am sure will visit again. The white cocounut chutney could have been better and more authentic. It was slightly short in best in class. Highly recommend this place to try out.

“Great fresh food”

I order from Dosa Garden regularly. They have many vegetarian choices that are delicious, the delivery is fast, and the food is always fresh and delicious.

“Worth a Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

Went for dinner on 10 August 2013. An "A" rating in NYC's rating guide. The menu offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections and all meats used are "halal". The food and blend of spices makes this a top spot to try. Plenty of seating and pricing is very good. We had a party of 5 and total bill with tax and tip was $82. Lots of different breads like roti and nan to try. I had a mutton dish and it was fab. Try the mango lasi drink, Yum. Service was a little slow for NYC standards but the staff was very pleasant and made you feel comfortable. Open till 11pm with take out and delivery. Cash and all major credit cards accepted. Parking available in the back of the restaurant.

“Dosaaaah!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2013

A friend who dated an Indian guy took me here. Wonderful and reasonable food. Of course, get a dosa here -- a big, delicious light and crispy pancake, which you can choose to get stuffed with potatoes and onions (masala dosa), which is my preference. It comes with a side of three different chutneys, which have a variety of seasoning and spice. All of the other dishes I've had are also good -- the lamb/mutton chettinadu, onion chile utthappam, malai koftha (what I call vegetarian meatballs in a rich and flavorful sauce served with rice). The lasse, a yogurt drink, is terrific too. The servers are quiet and friendly and sometimes need a little prompting but I never mind. And the price is right!

As an American, I've never acquired a taste for Indian/Sri Lankan desserts, but the food is a treat enough. The setting is humble and the neighborhood is not impressive, but there's a small parking lot in the back, so if you like this kind of food or are a little adventurous, this is it!

“North Shore's little secret”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2012

This gem of a restaurant is one of staten island's best kept secrets. The food is delicious and the cost very affordable. My wife and I come often and never leave disappointed or looking for somewhere else to satisfy our Sri Lankan taste buds.
