It's nice to see this memorial, but don't visit this area after dark. Don't be fooled by the come-ons you see advertising tourism on Staten Island. This area is called St. George, and it's a business district during the day, and a hellhole at night.

“,voting Tribute”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

A moving tribute to those Staten Islanders lost on September 11, 2001. The two postcards contain silhouettes of the victims of the WTC attack. When looking at the monument towards Manhattan, the two halves frame the location of the towers and now of the new Number 1 WTC. The exhibit is adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George and Richmond County Ball Field home of the "Single A" New York Yankees farm team.

I pass by every time I take the ferry and make an annual visit on 9/11.

Right next to the si ferry, it's a very beautiful memorial, a nice peaceful walkway and a nice view of the freedom towers

“Not an attraction - place for reflection”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

As a native Staten Islander, I don't count this as an "ATTRACTION"...However, this is a very special place. It's a memorial that lists the names of every Staten Islander that perished on 9/11.

I sometimes sit here on nice days in the spring/summer because it's typically serene, and you can actually reflect on the changed view of the downtown, which remains scenic...but very different.

However, every time I'm there, there's always tourists taking pictures yelling or tourist teenagers jumping on the memorial. I don't think anyone who visits this as an "attraction" really understands the point of the memorial or what the view used to be..... Why it's a special place....

“A Truly Touching Memorial”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

When you look through the center of the beautiful Postcards, your mind goes back to the time that the World Trade Center would have been standing proudly right there. Now it is just a memory but this Memorial is so touching with it's silhouettes of those lost that horrible day who hailed from Staten Island. It stands out as a tribute to all we lost that day.
