“Faith Preserved Honestly”

Staten Island Hindu Temple
Reviewed 20 September 2012

I came to Staten Island, one of five boroughs of New York City in June this year, and luckily found this beautiful temple on a walking distance from my house. When I attended the Prayers in the evening, it was amazing. Even in many temples in India the rituals are not followed that strictly.
In this temple how my time was utilized from 6pm to 9pm, I really can't describe. The Priests are very knowledgeable, and the Devotees are also chanting 'Shlokas' and 'Mantras' along with the priest. This temple on first floor has idols of all deities worshiped in north, south, east and west; main being that of Lord Rama. Saturdays and Sundays the temple opens from 10am to 1 pm, except third Saturday of the month when the time is as per other regular days i.e. from 6pm to 9pm.
They give monthly Calender of Puja. Also calender of special events and celebrations in the temple is given in advance. Recently a programme for all faith was organised in which people from all religions took part and knew about Hindu Philosophy through a lecture by Indian Pundit. Classes for Sanskrit Language, Yoga Classes, and cultural programs are also held. The Temple Hall on ground floor is also given on rent for personal occasions.
I could have written about this temple in June itself, but this attraction has been added by trip advisers recently and probably mine will be first review about this attraction.
People of all faith can visit this temple and be benefited, but it is a must visit for Hindus to this 'Ram Mandir" a hidden Gem in Staten Island.
