The Skyler was a great hotel. Every thing was eco friendly and modern accommodations, previuosly a jewish temple and then a theater. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay again if ever in the area.

As part of a road trip from Ottawa to New York City, we decided to spend a night in Syracuse. Hotel Skyler is in a great location; a short drive from Destiny USA mall, and close to the interstate. Though the facade looks like an old bank or court house, rest assured the inside is quite clean and modern. Our room had a king bed, large flat screen TV and modern-chic furnishings. The hotel has a bar in the main lobby, and their bartender is not afraid to be generous (a good thing). There is also a little snack counter dispensing everything from beer to Cheerios. There is ample parking and strong WiFi throughout. One small but notable feature... The building has a healthy number of security cameras, which makes one feel very comfortable at night. The only three things that would have made our stay perfect: an in-room coffee maker, bath robes and a low-speed setting on the air handler (it cools the room really well, but can be a bit loud). Overall though, if you are in Syracuse and would like to stay at a boutique hotel, consider Skyler.

We stayed in Skyler, Syracuse in a cold weekend earlier in February. The best hotel services ever. Personalized attendance, beautiful decoration, cozy and warm. Outstanding comfortable and large room. It´s very well located and it was also very practical if you wanted to grab something to eat downstairs, just remember to pass by the receptionist who will make a note and charge you later with the bill. Not overpriced but worthy every cent. The place was renovated and as it was built inside an old building nearby the university campus. They had designated us a driver from the hotel to take us around the city as it was freezing outside and difficult to walk. We received the best advices on where to eat and even what to order. Very relaxing days, upper / central New York State, and the city received a sort award as it was the snowiest city during in US. Quite beautiful though..

Room Tip: Ask the hotel´s employees for advice on restaurants. They are the expertise and know more about the...

Just spend the weekend; great hotel, wonderful staff. The hotel has a new modern feel that is practically on campus. I really enjoyed the stay and would definitely go back.

If I would have one con it would be that the exercise room is very small with only three machines

The decore of this synogague-turned-hotel is hipster and modern but the rooms are comfy, well laid out and clean. The halls were quiet (we were on first floor down from lobby and bar and had been a bit worried). While we could hear the people in the room next door as they left it was the only disturbance and, then again, they were loudly chatting. Otherwise quite quiet. Beds comfy. The front desk was very helpful and i liked the secure parking lot behind the hotel. Its 2-3 blocks from Syracuse so a great place to stay if visiting the campus or hospitals. Only downside is you have to pay for coffee in the morning at the bar. I would have liked a free codfee offering and barista coffee if i wanted to pay for it. Lobby was inviting and comfy. Definitely will return!

This is truly the most wonderful hotel I've stayed in. Not as plush as some of the other places in Syracuse (I stop every summer on my way to New Hampshire) but utterly unique and beautiful beyond words.

I can't stand the dark decor that so many hotels seem drawn to. This is a confection of light, stained glass (reclaimed from a local church that was being demolished) and Swedish inspired decor. All of the appointments were simple, crisp, clean lines...the linens were all made of lovely organic cotton, and the sheets, drapes, and towels were of exceptional quality. What a pleasure to learn that in addition to being beautiful the hotel is committed to being eco-friendly. Somehow it was in keeping with the overall feel of the place.

The staff couldn't have been kinder or more attentive. It was a delight to spend a night here. I'm quite sincere in saying that I hesitated to write this review, because, selfishly, I want it a well-kept secret so that a room is always available. But some things are too good to keep to oneself. And given that its was once a synagogue and contains glass from a church, it seems the charitable thing to do to share the good news...

---------------
My one recommendation echoes another reviewer's: please consider adding a complimentary breakfast. There are no places within walking distance and for those getting back on the road it makes a big difference to have a breakfast on the run.

We stayed here one night on the way to Toronto to break up the long drive. Pluses were wonderfully comfortable beds and bedding, marvelous staff at check in and front desk, shuttle to their sister hotel for dinner, on site secure free parking and free wifi. Interesting new hotel in what was an old synagogue and well designed for quiet and mobility and allergy problems.

Minuses were that while we knew we needed to go out for dinner, the not included breakfast at the hotel was only either packaged stuff that needed to be microwaved or some rather not very good pastries which were available from the bar area, coffee, tea and juice. Items were not cheap but we did not have time to go to local restaurants or to sister hotel. The inclusion of hard boiled eggs, non fruit yogurts would have been nice.

Would return for the rooms and other amenities but not try to eat breakfast there.

Room Tip: Be specific about special needs e.g, allergies, quiet, etc. when reserving.
