“Huge room, nice facilities but a few letdowns”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

We had a very nice room in the back, away from the street reconstruction. Our stay was very restful, with lots of room to move around, including the lobby area. But... the single elevator was slow (it is shared with the cleaning staff who enter from the rear). There were no drinking glasses in our room (even though it had a full kitchen). There was no hotel information in the room. And the free "social" was waffles and ice cream, not exactly an appropriate "appetizer" before going out to dinner. Parking is by valet only ($10 + tips) but there is a city lot very close by at $8 per 24-hour period.

I'd like to extend our thanks for your feedback regarding your recent stay at the Residence Inn in Armory Square. I'm pleased to hear that your overall stay was enjoyable, but I do apologize for any issues faced with our elevator. I have alerted our Housekeepers to perform more thorough inspections to ensure all in room amenities are in place for our guests. I do hope you'll choose the Residence Inn should your travels bring you back to Syracuse.

Be Well,

This is a great example of how a Residence Inn should be. Comfortable, plenty of space and easy to work from. I really like the design of the rooms and we never heard any noise from neighbors. There's space to rest, work and eat. The room was immaculate and stocked with coffee, popcorn and all the dishware you'd ever need. The staff were all very helpful and efficient; a real credit to the hotel.

This Residence Inn is pet friendly, and shares a building with the Courtyard brand (which is not). We stopped quickly for breakfast in the morning, and its the usual stuff. Nothing to write home about, but good enough to get you going in the morning. We tried out the pool and it's small but good for a splash about.

The location of the hotel is pretty good and in a newly developed part of town. It's really close to my office, but also walking distance to Dinosaur BBQ and Middle Ages Brewing Co. There's valet parking at a reasonable $10 per night and the car was always ready in minutes.

The only downside is the construction noise from outside. We were up on the 7th (top floor) and you could still hear the temporary ironwork in the street. I'm sure it'll be completed soon, but if you're a light sleeper you might want to get a room at the back of the hotel.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the Residence Inn in Armory Square. I am so pleased to hear that our brand new accommodations and central location made for a pleasant stay. I do apologize for any disturbances from the road work being performed adjacent to the hotels. The reconstruction of Fayette Street and Connective Corridor will be a great asset to Armory Square once complete. I hope you'll stay with us again during your next visit to Syracuse.

Be Well,

This property has new, clean rooms and good facilities overall. The workout room specifically is excellent and the rooms are roomy and have everything that you need for a good stay. A good location near Armory Square ensures that you have have fun bars and good restaurants within a couple of blocks. For beer lovers, make sure you stop by the Middle Ages brewery, just a few blocks away. Nothing fancy but tasty beer and unlimited free samples!

My stay was a Sunday night. Check-in was smooth. The room itself was nice, the room layout was good and I was on the quiet end of the hall. I wanted a nightcap so I walked over to the Courtyard next door, and their bar was still open. Overall nothing "great", but nothing bad/no issues. In the morning, breakfast was typical Residence Inn. The one item I'll call out is the service. The desk agents and the staff, in general, were very engaging - "can I help you with that", "how's your stay going", etc. When my car was retrieved from valet (it's valet only, but only $10), they sweeped the snow and ice off. If I'm in the area, I'd definitely put this hotel on the top of the list.

Very nice property. Stayed 3 nights in a one bedroom suite on the 7th floor overlooking rooftop parking area. This hotel has valet parking only for $10 night. This did not cause any issues. Called ahead each time we needed our vehicle and it was right there waiting for us when we went downstairs. One negative on the stay; for a hotel as new as this one is, the heating/air conditioning system is LOUD. We learned on night one to shut the HVAC system off before going to bed because the noise was too much to listen to. The 7th floor was quiet from street noise except for the early morning hours slamming of the dumpsters as they were emptied that seemed to echo between the buildings at the rear of the property. Breakfast had a decent selection and the quality of the food was good. Very nice restaurant right across the street - Kitty Haynes. Would stay at this Residence Inn again.

We were driving through Syracuse late in the evening and decided to stop for the night. We made the reservations last minute and chose the Residence Inn based on availability and price. When we arrived, the front desk manager (I believe his name is Belal) was quick to get us checked in, gave my kids coloring books, was warm (with a great smile), and pointed us towards several restaurants to get food. The room was perfect for my family (4 of us) - clean, comfortable beds, and spacious. And last, the complimentary breakfast helps to start the day - good food, fun for the kids, and great (great!) service. The location is perfect for dining as there are many 'local' establishments to visit, with excellent food and atmosphere. We pass through Syracuse with some frequency and this will be our hotel of choice - many thanks!

Room Tip: We came through during a frigid cold spell in late November, but even so there were a dozen places w...

This Residence Inn opened in July of this year at Armory Square in downtown Syracuse. Stayed overnight while catching a Syracuse basketball game at the Dome. Well situated as it took us only 10 minutes to reach the campus.

The facility itself beside being new, boasts an indoor pool, fine workout center and the usual hot breakfast included. They also have a small bar which opens at 5 p.m., although the prices are rather high. We ordered a beer and Irish coffee and the tab came to $18.50. Better to go the Irish bar directly across the street. Dining of every sort and a multitude of bars all within walking distance.

They have done a fine job with Armory Square and there is something for everyone in the district.

The hotel offers valet parking only for $10. However, there is a parking lot a few hundred yards away that offers 24 hour parking for $6 with in and out privileges.

The rooms themselves were modern, clean and the bedding was quite comfortable. Typical of a Residence Inn, they came with a full size refrigerator, stove top and microwave.

The price was reasonable and good value for the money.

Room Tip: Request high floor corner room.
