“Some Good Art, But Many Exhibits Closed”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

My son and I went for a visit and enjoyed the art that was featured there. Unfortunately, a few exhibits were closed, including one of the featured exhibits that was supposed to be open for another week. The woman at the desk said she didn't know why, but it was closed early to prepare for the next one.

“Small Museum - Nice Collection”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

The Everson is a nice small art museum. The building itself is quite impressive. The collection has a representation some major artists - Bierstadt, Henry Moore,a Gilbert Stuart "George Washington," George Inness and a small Jackson Pollack to mention a few. Everson is renowned for its ceramic collection, which is quite impressive and both international and historic in scope. It is well worth a stop if you're in Syracuse. The suggested admission is $5 and is voluntary.

“Go for the ceramics collection”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

The reason to go to the Everson is its ceramics collection. However, it's stuck away in the basement in a room with a low ceiling. Perhaps better hightlight the Syracuse China collection? I missed this entirely, but another reviewer mentioned it. Paintings nicely discplayed on the second floor. If you like pottery, from very old to ver new, the Everson is definitely worth a visit, but I agree that it could be improved.

“Wonderful art museum”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

This is a great little museum. My wife loved the collection of antique clothes. Also had a display of Stickley furniture. Lots of pottery, especially Syracuse China. A very unique building!

“Wonderful small mid-mod museum.”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

Cohesive mid-century modern museum in the middle of blighted downtown Syracuse. Wonderful building designed by I.M. Pei including interior decor and furnishings. Check out the vintage '60's stools in the women's rest room! Good permanent collection as well as China/ceramics wing.Gift shop a plus staffed by informed volunteer, James Walker. A must-see for the art & design fan.
