We met up with another family of 4; great service, limited menu for brunch but each dish was unique and well done (we each had diff items so could taste/ tell). Highly recommend this quaint spot to others!

It's just across the street from The Music Hall so is really convenient for eating before the show.
Food - especially the beef short rib - was great and the drinks matched the menu well. The atmosphere is lively and the service was friendly and informative.

We made the reservation with some trepidation because of the mediocre reviews. Our experience was just satisfactory but the reviews were correct. The food was good (nothing exceptional) and the prices reasonable. But the menu is limited and the service is mediocre. Although the waiters are standing in the middle of the restaurant talking to each other and, therefore, are available, the service is inattentive. There was a long wait between our appetizers and entrees so I asked our waitress to check on our order. She responded that the food would be "right out"; it came about 5-10 minutes later. Although she walked by our table numerous times, she never returned to ask if our food was satisfactory or if we needed anything. The room was also very noisy -- one group of 8 dominated the restaurant with their noise level. I would go to other Tarrytown restaurants before I'd return to Sweet Grass.

With a week in NYC, we were looking for a day trip out of town to see ' the real New York'. The recommendation was Tarrytown, a short and beautiful train trip up the the Hudson River. A local put us onto Sweetgrass, a bistro - type restaurant halfway up the Main Street. It's just brilliant. Brian and Angel behind the bar are friendly, informative and great fun. We did not have a reservation on a busy Saturday night, so a seat at the bar was no trouble. The duck and the vege pie were wonderful, with food arriving quickly and cooked beautifully. Prices are reasonable, and is fresh and local. If you are looking for a very different afternoon and evening, a trip to Tarrytown and Sweetgrass is really something special.

We've eaten at Sweetgrass on numerous occasions. We're locals, so it's easy enough. Overall, the prices are fair, the beer selection is great and the food--when it comes out--generally hits the mark.
I say when it comes out, because it often does a disappearing act between the menu and the kitchen. On almost every occasion we've been there, when the server comes to the table, we are provided with a rundown of what they are out of. This routine reached its comically absurd zenith on our last visit this past weekend, when we were told that every appetizer and entrée special listed on boards on the wall were gone. This, despite us being there for a 5:30 dinner on a Sunday. So, when we defaulted to the menu, my wife ordered the salmon. You guessed it.
All of this would have been more bearable had the food we had been better. An appetizer of polenta fries came out cold. When we sent it back, what came out tasted like it had been microwaved, flaccid and lacking any crispiness.
The kitchen apparently didn't want any more complaints about cold food, so my vegetable strudel (just OK) came out steaming. The wife's roast chicken was piping hot. Which was a problem, as piping hot also meant overcooked and dry. By then we had to catch a show across the street at the Tarrytown Music Hall so we finished up without bothering with dessert.
We're fortunate that the quality food choices in Tarrytown have only increased every year. Sweetgrass, in my estimation, is coasting. Not a good move. I'd come back for the beers (always a great, revolving tap selection) and maybe find a safe appetizer. But for dinner, you can do better in the village. In fact, you can do better right on Main Street, where Sweetgrass should be taking note of its competition (Tarry Tavern and Mint, among others) and not take its clientele for granted. And buy enough food for a dinner service. For once.
