We were attending a wedding at a nearby Golf club so needed somewhere close to stay overnight. At first sight the Hotel looks no more than a Pub, perhaps a little in need of a facelift. We had booked a "premium" room which cost an extra £10. We actually got a room which was used as a bridal suite. It was large, well furnished with a huge, smart bathroom containing a free standing bath & separate shower cubicle. Additionally there was a picturesque view of the river to the rear of the Hotel.
I don't know about the standard rooms, but i wholeheartedly recommend this room. It was also clean.
breakfast was an absolute delight. The service from a Spanish lady was first class. Friendly, warm, helpful. All the staff were polite. The cooked breakfast, toast, cereal & copious cups of tea were just what we needed after a heavy night. We then went for a walk by the river with plenty of swans & ducks, plus quite a few rabbits scurrying about.
Overall, then, a very pleasant if short stay. Yes it could do with an uplift but for the money I consider this Hotel to be a little gem & well worth a try.

Stayed in this Inn in June and liked the riverside location. Able to take a walk alongside the river after dinner, or before if the day is shorter. Stayed as part of a deal with National Trust and therefore thought that we had VFM. However, the room was very small, but it did have a riverside view, even if it was also over the patio and garden area too. Room was also a bit shabby, the carpet looked like it could do with a good shampoo, or even replacement. This was probably due to people walking alongside the river and not wiping their feet very well when returning. Bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom in our room was very narrow, just about enough room between the toilet and the bath. The service in the bar and restaurant was a bit hit and miss, although the staff were very pleasant, just not very efficient. If we returned to the area would probably consider other accommodation before returning to this one.

Room Tip: Probably a room in the original building would be nicer.

Lovely hotel, clean and friendly staff. A couple of bonus's.... A bath and a shower in the room plus free wi-fi. Dinner was great (very reasonably priced too), love the dining/bar area. Breakfast is cooked to order. The waitress for breakfast is so helpful and very attentive. Will definitely recommend for business trips and short breaks.

Had an excellent weekend for my nephews wedding recently and enjoyed my stay here a lot. My room was a single and was very roomy, clean and had a great shower. The staff were very attentive and helpful all weekend and made everyone's stay a pleasant experience. The hotel is set in a great location and was very pleasing on the eye. Overall a great time was had here and I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about my stay here.

1. Shower was just a trickle...... please change your shower heads.

2. Noise outside between midnight and 3am when a wedding party was finishing was terrible.... a warning would have been nice or to be put in a room not overlooking the car/park/entrance.

BUT the GOOD definitely outweighed the BAD !!!

Fabulous Service
Fabulous Food
The Waitress At Breakfast Was A Star
Clean
Smart
Friendly

*****Would Stay Again Definitely *****

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the back, not the front where the entrance is.

The bathrooms are way overdue for upgrading and decorating but worked ok
The cleanliness in general suffered from the fact the certain areas were not getting dusted so a good spring clean is required. Do not let this put you off as it was not dirty as such. Hopefully the new manager will have sorted this out by now. Smokers hover near the doorway so this needs addressing too. Breakfast waitress fantastic. Good value for money on food and hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the riverside and some of them are overlooking car park
