“The Stanley Theater A Cherished Piece of the Past”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

The Stanley Center for the arts is a true gem. Ornately decorated when it was originally constructed and saved by a dedicated local group. The "gingerbread" decorations within the theater are covered with gold leaf. A brand new candelabra created by Meyda Tiffany glass adorns the rotunda. A newly constructed annex provides full handicap access, while the enlarged stage allows bigger and better performances. The main entrance, the auditorium, and the stage have the classic '20s look and feel. Performances by major troupes, orchestras, etc. are held year 'round, so you need to check their website for dates and availability. This is a piece of the past that should not be missed.

The Stanley has been there for at leat 90 years that i know of. The staircase is breathtaking and if you read up on the Stanley Theater you find that it is haunted and has much character.

nice old historic theater, very pretty inside, please note all seats on the small side, if you have some girth to you, you will be uncomfortable, definitely.

“Restored movie theatre worth a look even if no event is booked there”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

The restoration was completed with tender loving care, turning a care-worn theater into a place of spectacular beauty. Of particular interest is the giant chandelier, made locally by Meyda Tiffany. If you're lucky enough to catch a musical performance, you will also enjoy the excellent acoustics. Get a tour if you can and go backstage to learn about the technical changes that were a part of the restoration.

“Beautiful restoration”

The broadway theatre league presents plays through the year. A wonderful experience to sit in so much luxury. Cons-seats are too close together for my long legs!
