“Habachi was great”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Fugi San is one of those "finds" when you are out of town that makes the trip better. We had no wait on a Saturday night and were seated with others in the normal hibachi style. The quality of the food was very good and the cooking of it entertaining. The yum yum sauce was a bit watery but tasty none the less. The prices are very reasonable and the service is very good as well. An all around enjoyable experience!

“This was a pleasant surprise.”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

We didn't expect much from a restaurant in a highway motel, even a nice highway motel. But Fuji San was a pleasant surprise. Very pretty decor will all the expected Japanese touches. (Particularly liked the fish flags hanging over the sushi bar.) Ordered appetizers and main dishes, and immediately received a small salad and soup that seem to come with. (The soup was really excellent.) We don't eat sushi, so we can't comment on that. But the gyoza (dumplings) were very tasty, and the yakitori (chicken skewers) were tasty, even if a bit chewy. We both ordered hibachi dishes: one steak with salmon, one filet mignon with shrimp. Both very good. Meats in a salty soy sauce, but the saltiness was balanced off by a slightly sweet sauce on the shrimp (there were a few bonus shrimp on the meat and salmon plate). Vegetables were totally unseasoned, which made them a good mix with the meats or the very tasty fried rice. (Not sure fried rice is authentically Japanese, but it was good.) Portions very generous -- neither of us could finish. The salmon, by the way was a real treat -- grilled to crispiness outside, juicy inside. Service was attentive and friendly. People who sat at the hibachi table (we did not) seemed to be having a great time with a showman chef. As a roadside stop on a long car trip, this was a very pleasant break from Applebee's and Chili's.

“Excellent Hibachi!”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

I used to come here all the time when I went to SUNY Binghamton. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable for hibachi. Fuji San is the place to while in the Binghamton area for hibachi--avoid Kampai--Fuji San is much better. They deliver too, which is nice when you are too lazy to venture out. The service can be hit or miss and you need a reservation on a busy weekend night, but the food is generally worth it. Highly recommend and will return if in the area again.

“Average Sushi”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

Had a corporate get-together here - the sushi was okay; the soups and service a bit below par. Located inside the Quality inn and was hard to access in the snow (that wasn't cleaned in the parking lots)
