About 15 minutes down the road from Tuxedo Ridge, this ski area had some nice gentle terrain for the little ones. I liked skiing with my kid from the top of Old Pete's chair following the beginner terrain to the bottom. They had a nice lodge at the bottom for the non skiers to hang out and watch the skiers. They had a slope with many learn to ski boarders next to the Old Pete lift. I saw some pretty young boarders learning-awesome. For the competent boarder, the had some rails, and jumps. The trail was supervised and maintained at all times. For the competent skier, the mountain had a couple of steep trails but are not as long as those further upstate in the Catskills. Easy in and out parking. Enjoy.

We took our guys to this mountain for a holiday afternoon. They have been to it before with a ski group they a members of, but we (the parents) had never been there.
Let's just say that for anyone who is an average skier or above, this will feel like a bunny slope. Very few challenges and you will spend more time on the lift lines than on the hill.
However....The place was chock full of tiny ones learning to ski. From 2 years and up i would guess were learning. It seemed that they have a great, attentive staff to teach, and I believe that beginner skiers can get free lessons (check their website).

Close to Westchester. Nice facilities not huge crowds for MLK weekend. Great time. Only negative one private lesson for 5 year old was weak

Very crowded and fulla kids! They seem to love it! Decent lounge and restaurant where you can wait for your kids while they have fun unless you indulge also.

Don't expect the Rockies, but given the proximity to New York City - 1 hr 15 min from our house in Lower Westchester Co - this place is wonderful. Definitely kid-friendly, my 4-year old learned to ski here. We've tried both a Saturday and a weekday. Weekend wasn't too crowded, even though only 2 lifts were operating, never had to wait more than 2 min in line. The free beginner lessons on weekends are a nice gesture - best if you make the 10am session, we observed that later sessions get crowded.

Our Monday visit was heaven - hardly anyone there when we arrived at 11am. By 4pm the school groups arrived but still no complaints. Wide, well groomed beginner trails, 2 challenging black diamonds, a very usable bunny slope, and friendly staff. The base lodge is sunny, comfy, safe for stashing your stuff if you don't want to bother with a locker. Bathrooms are clean. We packed snacks so cannot comment on the caf. The clip below shows a run on one of the green trails - and my son skiing it w/out falling :-)
