“Good Resort but service to be improved”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2009

The facilities are pretty good it's a pity the service is so variable which is not acceptable for a 5 star resort.
Main buffet restaurant is ok and the meditterean ad the fusion one are excellent!
Also dissapointed on the beach hawkers ( not 5 star practice)
positive points:
- Very friendly staff at the kids club.
- excellent therapists at the spa

The hotel is set beautifully with all the necessary ammenities.
My recommenadation is that since there are a few restaurants in the hotel would be a good idea to give us the menus early in the evening in the rooms this will enable us to choose the hotel we would like to have dinner.

In my case I only had dinner in the main restaurant.

we arrived at this beautifull hotel 4 hours before our check in time and unlike many hotels this was not a problem. We were given a seat and a cocktail whilst our details were taken and when we were ready were taken to our room. The room was stunning exactly as it was on the website. We had a view across the gardens, pool and out to sea.
We stayed for 12 nights. Our room was cleaned and bed made up with fresh bed linnen every day, every evening our bed was turned down and fresh bottled water left by the bedside. Fresh fruit was left in the room every few days and tea and coffee kept topped up.
The staff in every area of the hotel were polite and friendly without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble and we fealt they genuinly wanted to make the stay special. For the first time in our many years of traveling we wrote a personal letter to the manager complementing him on his hotel and all the staff.
The four on site restuarants offered something for everyone. The themed buffett restuarant had live entertainment every evening ( live music and dancers good, singing not so good). For us the 3 other individual restuarants excelled themselves. We would put these on a par with some of the five star restaurants we have been to in the uk. Service, presentation and quality of food was superb. ( the fish restaurant being our favorite). We were on the all inclusive package and the problems with bills in the seperate restaurants(mentioned in an earlier review) seems to have been resolved. Our inclusive costs and non inclusive costs came seperatly for us to sign after each meal.
You can relax in the warm infinity pool watching the stars, looking out to sea. you can do arobics with the fitness team in the big pool. You can lay on the beach with waiters bringing you your drinks or complimentry fruit. You can work out in the gym looking out to sea or do yoga on the beach. Everything is just so relaxed, we loved it.

My housband and me are here in this hotel now. we came here for our honeymoon and we are having a terrible experience!
Someone of the hotel staff entered into our room and stole our 1400 Euro in cash which were hidden in a pocket INSIDE ONE OF OUR BAGGAGES.
AT the moment we are waiting for police reply, they are investigating on 3 people of the hotel staff.
WE HOPE TO GET BACK OUR MONEY BUT IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT.
NOTE THAT ALSO THE SEA IN THIS HOTEL IS NOT NICE, THE SANDY IS TERRIBLE AND ARTIFICIAL.
We will come back to Italy before.

Flight - We travelled with Air Mauritius. Not a great experience and woul not recommend them. Staff surly and planes uncomfortable.

Location - In isolated position without public transport from or near hotel. Taxis are your only option and they are not cheap - £60 per half day or about £80 per day.

Room - . Our room on the ground floor was clean and well presented. However, it was dark and noisy. We would reinforce comments by other reviewers regarding poor drainage in the shower room and horrible smells. We complained to the manager but he failed to resolved the problem and admitted that it was a design fault and common to all rooms.

Restaurant/Food - We were all inclusive and would recommend this option as everything here was astronomically expensive. Food was good but the main restaurant featured mostly curries (including breakfast). Very little in the way of traditional English or Continental breakfast. We would highly recommend the Asia Fusion a la carte restaurant. We discovered it towards the end of our 8-night stay and wished we'd eaten there every night - you can use your all-inclusive allowance here and pay a supplement.

Beach - OK but coral sand was coarse and sharp. Not in the league of Caribbean beaches.

Staff - Friendly and helpful but lack of training is a handicap.

Excursions - Forget the Waterfall, not worth the risk of travelling in dodgy boats and speed boats. Instead book a taxi for the day and see the botanical gardens and the coloured earth.

Summary - Sold to us as a five star hotel but is nowhere near this standard at this point in time, It lacks the relaxed vibrancy of Caribbean resorts and its isolation makes it unattractive.

I somehow was given a feeling at different places in the hotel as if Indians are the least welcome clients at the property. This was specially at the restaurant where even for tea / coffee in the morning breakfast, we had to ask the staff twice at times whereas to a European sitting nearby, the hotel staff themselves used to ask the guest twice for this.

Also During dinner on one of the days, a waiter even after listening to my wife just walked away without bothering for what she was calling him. Upon raising the issue, the restaurant manager only turned up after requesting thrice to meet him and the excuse we received was that the waiter had to rush to the toilet and thus could not attend us.
