We had dinner at Chateau Mon Desir one night in December. The setting is beautiful and the food really good, but the extremely slow service ruined our experience. The service was tooooo slow. It took ages for the food to arrive. My husband had ordered a main course that was supposed to be cooked/prepared live in front of us, when we asked about the delay with our food we were told there was only one live station cooker, and we had to wait until the dessert someone else had ordered was prepared till it was our turn. Honestly they should have more than one mobile cooker in the restaurant if several such dishes are offered on the menu. Although the place is highly recommended it didn't impress us.

The service and food is fantastic, the wine expensive and the mineral water also expensive, but what do you expect when you go out for top of the range fine dining!

If you are looking for a unique place for a very special occasion this is where to go! Wonderful setting within the ruins (especially in the evening). You can sit outside on the terrasse and just enjoy the very unique atmosphere. The food and service was excellent and nicely presented.

We attended the Gourmet Days event with the 3 starred Michelin chef Harald Wohlfahrt. The event was a 6 course dinner with wine parings. The food, as you can imagine, was delicious and in just the right proportions. Each course was superbly cooked and presented.

The chateau exudes style and is a must for that special night out. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. Vinay, the manager, in particular was a great host and looked after all our needs.

The only quibble I have is we were charged for water. It's a top end restaurant with matching prices and I would expect water to be provided as standard. One tip: the aircon seems to work better at the entrance than it does at the far end so on a hot night a table near the entrance may be more comfortable.

A definite recommendation and we will be back to try the brunch and enjoy the view.

Set in the gardens above the seventeenth century ruins of the Balaclava Fortress and a lagoon which exits innto the Turtle Bay, this elegant restuarant is part of the Maritim Hotel.

The restuarant often plays host to Presidents of countries and multinational companies.

We recently spent new years eve at Chateau Mon Desir and welcomed in the new year with a maginificent fireworks display, after an earlier rendition of Phantom of the Opera in the ruins.

The food was a great spread, especially as they had catered for hundreds of people. Fantastic seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes with incredible deserts.Service was good especially seeing there was such a large crowd.

Sunday brunch is a gastronomic experience.Colonial French architecture and decor of the restuarant makes one feel transported to an earlier, more elegant era.
