A Lovely Stay at The Maritim

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Aug 2019
After reading some reviews before we went, I had slight worries as to how the hotel would be. Well, I have to say that it exceeded my expectations! Although the food wasn’t always the best (Le Banyan was most disappointing, and a couple of the dinners at Belle Vue, selection wasn’t great) these were insignificant when you compare the positives. The amount of activities on offer was beyond any all inclusive resort I’d been to.
Staff in all areas were polite and friendly. My son who was on his first holiday without his sister for company, made lots of friends with both visitors and staff!
The draw to Maritim for us was the golf course - we knew we wanted to be in the North as it was their winter. Admittedly it’s not the best course, but we played 6 times during our stay (if you intend on playing, bring a half set of clubs - hiring more than once will turn costly) and it only takes an hour and a half to go round, leaving the rest of day doing other activities.
Lovely touches, Indian night was a particular highlight, the food and the performance afterwards. Didn’t have a spa treatment (did think spa prices were a bit on the high side) but did use the spa facilities which were lovely.
Thank You Maritim - I normally don’t say I would return to a place again as I feel there are so many places in the world to visit but I’d definitely like to return here!

Firstly I feel really guilty about being so long in writing this review.

This is our second visit to the Martim ,a prestige room 333 28th May to 7th June this year and we were so pleased to have the same room as our last visit. Everything about our stay was perfect , especially the wonderful staff who do all they can to make your holiday an enjoyable one.

It’s such a beautiful resort to be in, with all you need for a wonderful holiday. The rooms ad all area really lovely, with large beautiful grounds to walk in.

Several excellent restaurants and all special diets catered for, which for me is a big plus. The Maritim is the only resort I can dine in with no worries about ending up in hospital, which has quite often happened to me e over the years. If you have any food allergies just mention them on arrival and they’ll ensure your needs are met.

I must mention Mr Doolum ( hope I’ve spelt )correctly , who is one of the chefs in the buffet restaurant and absolutely amazing. He took such good care of me and made sure I didn’t eat anything to make me ill. I hope to see him on our next visit which will be when the hotel reopens around the end of next year. Closing Jan1st 2020 for total refurbishment. ( can’t wait to be there )

Also Danette, our waitress ( same restaurant) who took good care of us
and always found us a suitable table. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten the name of our room attendant, who did a great job of keeping it spotlessly clean, ( hope to see her next time also. In fact all staff we encountered were always happy and extremely helpful and this is what makes or breaks a resort.

Such lovely memories of the Maritim will always be with us.

Had a very pleasant 2 week stay at The Maritim. We had a prestige room which was lovely, spacious and clean with a well stocked fridge! There were some items in the fridge you had to pay extra for but these were premium brand items so you would expect that but the majority including wine and beer were included.
We ate in the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner and found the food to be varied and generally very good. La Maree on the beach was always good for lunch. There was a good selection which was included in the all inclusive package with just a couple of items that you had to pay extra for, it was clearly marked on the menu. We stuck to what was included in La Maree and in the main bar and we certainly didn’t go without or feel cheated in any way. Every all inclusive hotel we’ve stayed in charge for premium brand items so I don’t understand why some people have a problem with this!
The beach was large and lovely With plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. There were waiters up and down the beach all day taking orders.
The vast majority of staff on all levels we came into contact with were extremely friendly, helpful and courteous, they couldn’t do enough for you.
I really can’t think of anything negative I can say about this place, it was great.

This was our third visit to Maritim Resort - the first twenty years ago, and the second five years ago - and it is as wonderful as it has always been.
The location is simply lovely. The hotel and estate are in the most beautiful location.
The staff were super - friendly and cheerful and extremely funny on occasions - and the service was top class.
Special mention must go to Kavita of the Reception staff, who has been with Maritim for 29 years who greeted us as "coming home" when we arrived, and hugged us when we left and was cheerful and welcoming all the way through. Also Sabrina from the Pool Bar who always remembered our order.
Our room(366) was spotless, comfortable and beautifully looked after by Jeanetta. We had requested a specific room as it had been our honeymoon room and Maritim went out of their way to ensure we got it.
The buffet food in the Belle Vue dining room was plentiful and good with a big choice of dishes. The all-inclusive was actually all-inclusive and once you sorted out the menus in the other restaurants it was easy to sort out which were on the all-inclusive list.We had a wonderful evening at the La Marie on the beach.
It was just a wonderful time there and, boring we must be, but we plan to go again when we can get organised.

Took a family break to relax at Maritim Resort. The Resort is impressive with a lot to do on the Grounds itself - visiting the ruins of Balaclava, the turtle park, the golf course, Citron River & Waterfalls. Food & Beverage service is good despite limited variety on the dinner Buffet. Rooms are clean with adequate amenities. Will surely visit again.

Overall, we were really disappointed with our holiday to this resort. Whilst the property itself is absolutely stunning, the service, in particular the food and beverage was extremely low considering the cost of this holiday.

The resort is not inclusive, you have to pay a supplement to enter all restaurants except the buffet and the food was well below average, not what I would consider restaurant standard, I could cook better at home. Additionally, there were a few staff who were helpful but mostly they were slow with below average service skills. They just weren't polished or on top performance. Moreover, my partner did in fact get a stomach bug whilst we were away, which may not have been down to the food but it was after eating at the beach BBQ. During this meal, I specifically requested no onions on my pizza and it arrived with onions, after requesting to have my meal replaced it arrived with onions a second time. I suffer with IBS and so onions really have a bad effect on my stomach, not what you want on holiday.

We also booked a catamaran trip was intended to be one of the highlights of our holiday. We woke up at 7am to make this trip and waited exactly where we were told. One hour later, there was no one to be seen and no boat in sight. Eventually, after finding someone, we were told the trip had been cancelled due to adverse sea conditions, which was rubbish as the sea was perfectly calm, yet no one had even bothered to tell us. Essentially, there were not enough people to run this trip and I felt we had been lied to.

When complaining to the manager, he took down notes but we didn't hear anything back and still had to pay our bill for all the supplements at the end which we were very unimpressed about. I appreciate the package provider could have made this more clear but regardless, why call it 'all inclusive' when it's evidently not. You also had to pay for meals if you wanted anything slightly better.

Positively, the water sports were included and were fantastic, we went water skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling. Also, the spa was lovely.

To conclude, it really is one of the most disappointing holidays we have been on, which is so upsetting because my heritage is in fact from Mauritius so I was extremely excited for this trip. Please don't waste your money as I feel you may be disappointed in the result.
