Just coming to the end of our 9 night holifay @ Maritim Spa Resort. I am honestly dumbstruck by the negative reviews from other users, our experience of the resort has been nothing short of amazing. The staff are so friendly and helpful, special mention to the La Maree bar staff who knock up the best cocktails and to Dylan our drinks server in the evening @ Quarterdeck bar.
We have been told that the resort will closed for renovations from February but as soon as they are complete we will be looking to book our next stay. Thank you to everyone working at the resort for such an amazing holiday and for assisting in making some truly awesome memories.

I had to travel to Mauritius for a four day work acitvity, from Canberra to Mauritius it takes 32 hours and you will go through Perth, South Africa and finally get there. It is worth researching a quicker way - as there are direct flights, but if you are ona a schedule...
The airport is a little under an hour to the hotel, but a pleasant drive across the island gets you there without hassle.
The Maritim is secluded down a long drive way with beautiful gardens throughout the property.
The staff were wonderful and very helpful and the hotel is folded into the surrounds which apparently makes it able to withstand cyclones.
My room with big french doors opens on to the shore line was well appointed, large and confortable - the bathroom is big. All the ammenties are available in the room, except an iron - but there is an ironing room - I like an iron in my room!!
I had a visitor one night - the Mauritius burrowing boa - it was small and the staff came and removed him back into the garden - I think the staff were more concerned than me. The Maritim is a really great hotel, with a number of resturants and bars with fantastic access to the beach. I would recommend staying there and if I am in the neighbourhood - I would stay there again.

Room tip: Ask for rooms with a waterfront view, they are on all levels.

We booked one week with my husband for a full pension at the maritim hotel. We have spent one of the best moment of our live, and of our couple story. Everything is done to make you feel comfortable, the personal is so nice and try to do his best to make you spend a beautiful travel. The garden at the hotel is wonderful: you can have a walk and observe the magnificient trees, flowers and also the animals. they have giant tortles, that was the first time we saw it.
The cleaning service is perfect too that's the moste advanced service we have known.
They proposed some romantics activities or suprises that makes your trip even more magical.
The foods in the buffet is very diversified. The breakfast is also very good. The snaks and the coktails are excellent. And the beach restaurant so romantic and good, the fisch is fresch from the morning I have eaten there the best tuna of my life.
the gastronomic restaurant is awsome too, the foods very good and the decoration very cosy.
I highly recommandate you that hotel and with my husband, we want to come back again.

We decided to book a family treatment at the spa and it was amazing. When we walked in , we were approached by the friendly staff ‘pravesh’ who explained the treatment for us. I booked an hour massage and wanted henna done. I was personally massaged by a lady named ‘anisha’ who I highly recommend. She did my henna which was gorgeous. Overall, the staff received us very well and the treatments are worth it, will definitely be coming back !

Bit of a mystery this place. Lovely location in Turtle Bay with clean pool area and ample very comfortable brand new sun beds and nice thatched roof bar facing west overlooking the ocean. Set in private gated estate with plenty of activities including free water skiing and several boating activities. Horse riding is available for a fee from their own stables which you can visit to see the horses, which is alongside a giant tortoise enclosure and the ruins of the original estate buildings complete with the history of it. Golf is free but you pay for club hire.
What lets it down is the buffet, the lack of reservation spaces in restaurants and sometimes the service. The buffet is fairly basic by any standard and if you go for dinner at say 8.45/9.00 don’t be surprised if some dishes are not available because when it’s gone it’s gone. We wanted lamb curry at 8.50 one night ( it’s open until 10 pm ) only to find the warmer empty. We asked for some to be brought out only to be told “sorry no more “. So my wife plumped for beef and chicken both of which were inedible as the chicken was dry as old boots and the beef needed cutting with a surgical knife it was so tough. The waiter tried and accepted he could not cut it either. To be fair the chef appeared , apologised and offered to cook her “anything she wanted” she was tempted to ask for fillet steak but politely declined his offer having proved her point that the meat was uneatable. The selection is a bit repetitive but the secret is to eat as early as you can or you’ll be left wanting. In most decent buffets there is usually a showpiece for the evening , ie suckling pig, fresh salmon, huge beef joints or turkey. Here most nights it was a sad looking 2 lb chicken like something out of Tesco being unceremoniously hacked into small chunks by a young assistant with obviously no carving or serving skills. Sometimes there’s a leg of lamb on offer but the young lad carving it was bombarded with complaints after serving it virtually raw. It went back into the glass fronted oven with 3-4 of its undercooked compatriots as a queue waited for them to finish cooking.
If you want to dine in any of the a la carte restaurants I suggest you book literally as you check in as there are very limited spaces and we waited 6 days before using one as they were all fully booked.
The service is average at best although a few well aimed tips will speed things up a bit. Most staff are pleasant but others especially in the La Maree restaurant and bar can be a bit abrupt and very slow.
The drinks attendant at the pool end of the beach was not replaced on his days off so it meant regular up trips to the bar to get drinks.
Another enigma is they will drag you round the Indian Ocean on a high powered boat all day long with two planks strapped to your feet for nothing. But you go to the snack menu and find you pay nearly a tenner for a basic chicken burger whilst fish and chips or a club sandwich is free. How they decide on these little random charges is beyond me. Having said that the fish and chips is delicious.
In all a very well kept place with spacious rooms and plenty of activities in a nice setting but we’ve been to better 4 star places with maybe not so many activities but much much better food and service. I
wouldn’t stump up another 6 grand to come here again. However if someone offered me the same for 2/3 the price I probably would.
    Good but not brilliant.
