Lovely stay

We stayed at the Maritim for 6 nights in September. A lovely location although don’t expect to find much in the immediate vicinity. We went All Inclusive which was fine but menu choices are limited at the a la Carte restaurants - make sure you book those when you first arrive and check in - we had to wait 3 days before there was availability. Buffet was a bit hit and miss but absolutely fine. Overall grounds and rooms well looked after. Free waterskiing as part of water sports availability. Great scuba dive centre at resort - we did 6 dives with them and had a great time with them. Good value but we would go at a warmer time of year next time!

    I have just read a review of Maritim Mauritius and cannot believe that I am currently at the same place. Let us start with the location. It is pretty much idilic. Certainly it is in the middle of nowhere but nothing that 5 minutes on Google maps would not have ascertained before you travelled if you were thinking of coming. Next the staff, Look at my previous reviews, these people are helpful, professional and friendly. To be honest I could not find better, whoever it was giving the last review they must have had a very bad flight. Food: the All Inclusive model is great. You get a menu that shows basically a half board system where you pay for everything and then AI and an even bigger Premium system but you can see what the supplements are each time which is fine,
    The grounds are great. There's a small 9 hole golf course. A great beach. Trips out to snorkelling or wider if payable. Water sports. A great gym though if I have to be picky the treadmill has a squeak.
    If I had to make any criticism at all I would say that some rooms are due a refurb. Not that they are bad, just maybe the taps are due a refit :)

    This is billed as a 5 star, ''all inclusive'' resort which is quite misleading.
    On the dining front, there are 6 restaurants, two of which are not part of the ''all inclusive'' Of the remaining 4, one is a buffet, so nothing 5 star about that. Of the remaining 3, some are closed on specific evenings. In respect fo the remaining 3 restaurants, these cannot be booked until arrival and were full for the first 4 nights of a 9 night holiday. The 3 restaurants have supplements on 75% of the menu choices, ranging between £10-30 for a main course.
    The staff, whilst very nice are largely poorly trained.
    To conclude, its very difficult to be positive after being tucked up so badly.

    As your host, we are committed to meet your expectations and we do strive to surpass them. Unfortunately, it seems it was not the case for you.

    We seize this opportunity to remind readers that our hotel is not a pure all-inclusive hotel. We cater for all kind of meal plans that the island in particular and the wide world offers. Due to its remote location, our island need to import almost everything from Europe which explains the high prices. Nevertheless, our hotel in regards to its position, has a very good value for money in comparison to the luxury hotels around the Island.

    We invite all readers and future guests to email us on info.mau@maritim.com and we shall be happy to send you the menu and provide you with more details on the offer you booked, in case your Agent or Tour Operator did not clarify same to you prior your booking.

    Visited for 13 nights with my husband to celebrate our honeymoon from 2nd-15th October. We stayed in the Savannah Suite in room 320.

    The resort is amazing; so well maintained and spacious with lots of walks available and places to explore. There is a waterfall and ruins and animals such as goats and giant tortoise.

    In terms of food there is one buffet style restaurant 'The Belle Vue' where you can have breakfast, lunch and tea. There are 5 a la carte restaurants. 3 of which are included in the all inclusive option which are le banyan, le filoas and le maree those being asian, beach bbq (which was our favourite) and fish. There is ample choice at all 3 restaurants which is included in the all inclusive package however should you wish to pay a little extra to get the choice of a few extra dishes you can do.

    The hotel kindly allowed us one complimentary visit to one of the two not included that being Chateau Mon Desir which was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was fantastic and the pianist added to the overall feel.

    Restaurants aside the Quarter Deck Bar serves food such as fish and chips and club sandwiches etc throughout the day. You will not go hungry that is for sure. I came back following our two week stay having put a good stone on.

    Because we booked a suite we had access to a private beach which was for suite members only where you got all your food and drink served direct to your loungers. There is also a huge choice of food available here for lunch which changes daily however includes the likes of pizza, pasta, fish, meat, salad etc with options such as ice cream and brownie available for dessert.

    The drinks menu is extensive to say the least and I enjoyed making my way through the cocktail menu with all the usual you would expect to find and more. There is a very nice choice of wines available on the all inclusive package also.

    The hotel runs numerous free activities on a daily basis which we took advantage of including archery, aqua gym, mini golf, kayak, paddle boarding, sailing etc. We chose to go horse riding at an additional cost which we thoroughly enjoyed and a couples massage which was incredibly relaxing. The spa is beautiful and so therapeutic. I would definitely recommend you leave some time to visit. There is so much at the resort we struggled to fit it all in. The good majority is offered complimentary however the likes of tubing and parasailing come at a cost. There are numerous board games such as uno, scrabble and monopoly and card games available from the sports kiosk which we thought was a nice touch and giant chess and snakes and ladders.

    Kherti was our allocated butler which is one of the advantages of booking a suite. From the very start of our trip Kherti was welcoming, attentive, professional and very friendly. He checked up on us regularly however was not overly intrusive. He assisted in organising our excursions, booking a la carte restaurants and just generally ensured we were happy and everything was to our liking. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he always had a smile on his face. It was a pleasure to get to know him. It was my husbands birthday during our stay and he helped organise a little surprise for him.

    Other staff who deserve a special mention is Jay who is responsible for running the beach designated to suite members. He is a lovely man and within seconds of our arrival had our preferred drinks served to us without even asking. He takes pride in what he does and it truly shows. Also Stephanie on the front desk, Dhillion in the quarter deck bar and Jerry in the sports team.

    That said all the staff we encountered were incredibly welcoming, polite and generally just lovely. It seems that they all knew our names and always made the time and effort to engage in conversation with us.

    The only slight disappointing aspect of the trip was the evening entertainment. Generally it was rather quiet and a little lacking for our liking. It didn't generally last very long either. Most evenings my husband and myself would have our dinner followed by a drink or two in the bar before retiring to our room.

    That aside, my husband and myself had an absolutely fantastic trip and would highly recommend and hope to return in the near future. The resort is closed for refurbishment for the majority of next year and would be nice to see it after the works. The staff truly are a credit to the hotel and are so hard working and it is obvious they put the customers first.

    My wife and I took advantage of an excellent deal, through UK agent Trailfinders. We flew via Dubai and were delighted to arrive at this magnificent resort, despite it’s scruffy locality. Once you get through the gates you arrive in an oasis of tranquility.

    Our prestige room was spacious and luxurious and we knew we had made a good choice.

    It has a lovely pool and beautiful gardens, a variety of included water sports and a varied activity program.

    Many of the activities were at extra cost and the spa treatments were very expensive.

    The food in the buffet was excellent, so no need to visit the a la carte offerings, which could be expensive.

    After returning back today I have to yet again say thank you to all the team at the Maritim. We sent 10 nights on this visit and when booked we did stay that we were returning guests and nothing was to much trouble. We booked a suite and was given the villa, we yet again had a great butler service and thank you for everything. They booked our restaurants, arranged days our for us and when we did need to changed nothing was two much trouble. I do have to say thank you to all the team who looked after Stephen and I so well.
    On arrival we were welcomed back and this was the same through resort. I could go on and on but the smile, service and people just wanting to look after you is a credit to the hotel.
    So do we go back yes for my 50th and this we discussed with the hotel and they are more than happy to arrange for ourselves and the family. Well worth paying that little extra for the suite and upgrade.
    Thank you all and well done for such a memorable holiday again .
