We stayed here in April 2011, and I can't speak highly enough of the hotel, it's staff and the location.

The service we received was excellent, the hotel was lovely and clean, and the facilities to a very high standard. I would be amazed to see anyone write a bad review based on my experience.

The rooms were very nice, comfortable and house keeping were reliable. No issues with this, bathroom facilities excellent.

Restaurants produced incredible food, but make sure you book up early as they do fill up quickly.

The resort itself was paradise, kept lovely and clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

If you want relaxation, sun, good food and drink, then if would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at shandrani twice in the past 4 months-end of November 2013 and January 2014 respectively.

First stay was very short but we enjoyed the hotel so much that we decided to come again and enjoy it over a long weekend break.

It was simply great. The Deluxe rooms are very comfy and spacious. There is a walk-in-wardrobe which is very convenient plus ironing table.you do hear the airplanes from time to time but we are totally unaffected by them.

Friendly staff, always eager to help. We really enjoyed the food and during our last stay we booked at porto vecchio and le boucanier. Both offer very good food though our preference goes to boucanier. Very fine cuisine. We had the "veloute de christophines"which was amazing. Also we enjoyed drinks at blue bay bar before dinner.

We hired a babysitter 3 times during the stay. Emily was so nice and patient to our young kids, aged 3 and 2 respectively. There are also a few activities they organise for kids at night:crab chasing, etc.

We also went for a trip in the glass bottom boat at the nearby marine park.
However we did not make the most of the sport activities as we chose to spend time at the pool with the children.

The all-inclusive package is a very good deal and we did not feel we were breaking the piggy bank. We had a good choice of food and drinks. Money well spent.

On the overall we cannot but recommend the hotel. No later than last week,we went to spend the day there.

This was my second visit to this hotel. The food and drink really are second to none, several different restaurants to try in the resort - something for everyone. Plenty of sport activities to do if you're that way inclined, and our spa experience was fab (additional charges for this). Lots of additional luxury touches, for example dressing gown and slippers in the rooms, beach towels, a man driving round in a little van with cold drinks and sandwiches if you can't manage to stir yourself to the restaurant. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and will do anything they can to make your holiday special. We hired a speed boat (about £20 per person) based at the hotel (the hotel will pack you a picnic if you give them a days notice) and had a fantastic time going to waterfalls, snorkelling and paragliding - the driver will take you wherever you want to go for half or full day. There are two beaches - a quiet inlet near the Sirius bar/pool/restaurant where the locals fish and one with the waves crashing onto the beach (the kids loved this one!) Although its a large hotel - its well spread out and we never felt crowded. Not great wi-fi - but fine for texts/calls. All in all the perfect place to go to relax and recharge your batteries.

It is a great place to stay. Since it is an all-inclusive resort, most of the activities, food and beverages are included in the package. The rooms are large and each room comes with it's own balcony.
There are plenty of activities at the resort to keep one engaged - snorkeling, glass bottom boat ride, water ski, kayaking, tennis, cycling etc etc
The staff at the activity centers are very helpful, patient with learners and they actually encourage you to overcome your apprehensions/ fear.
The two draw-backs are
- the resort is not on the beach and hence, there are no beach walks nor can one sit and listen to the waves.
- the wifi speed is pathetic (maybe 64 kbps or so) and it is only available in the room. It takes ages for a page to upload and if one wants to upload a photo.....one would be better-off doing it after the holiday.
The resort is quite close to the airport.
All in-all, a great place to chill out and have a relaxed stay. And I would love to visit it once more with my family.

My daughter, two grandchildren and myself fell in love with this great place, in fact made such an impression we have already booked to go back this year (2014)
Ideal for all ages and so very relaxing. When it say fully inclusive, it means exactly that..

This resort has everything- and a nice quick 10 min drive from the airport after a long 11+ hour flight. The airplane noise did not bother us, although the planes do take off immediately above you as the runway in on the other side of the lagoon. We actually found it quite interesting seeing all the planes fly over us and guessing where they were heading. The food at Shandrani was 10 out of 10. We couldn't believe the amazing selection of delicious food on offer at an all inclusive resort. The food was the highlight of our stay. We were also delighted by the choice of wines on offer, again, as part of the all-inclusive package. We drank some seriously enjoyable wines. Staff were all superbly helpful and friendly, particularly Jean-Noel, restaurant manager. Thank you to you. I would give the Thai restaurant a miss... The kids club- could do with some improvement here... It was convenient as it is open late, however my three suggestions concerning the kids club are that they should produce a weekly activity sheet available to take with you at reception so that you don't have to walk all the way to the kids club and try to remember whats on at what time (i took a pic of the schedule with my iPhone). Secondly, I felt that the staff lacked motivation. Whilst they were perfectly friendly and capable, I thought they were often sitting about, chatting amongst themselves, with the kids parked in front of the TV. They should greet the children more enthusiastically upon arrival and suggest activities for the children to do to make staying there more appealing, and willing to be separated from parents. Thirdly, I think they could do with more toys in the kids club. It looked bare, apart from some tables with lego. Some toy cars, building blocks, board games etc.. We used the club primarily in the evenings while we had an adults dinner, so we were happy to let them watch a film during that time. Mauritians have a lovely, friendly way about them, and I think with a few small changes, the kids club could be amazing. Rooms were ok, perfectly clean and functional, but nothing amazing or memorable. By and large, I would definitely recommend this resort, as how much time do you spend in your room anyhow..?

Stayed in this lovely secluded residence in January 2014.

First impression of the gated entrance was superb.
However i spent much time circling the parking area in order to park my vehicle, after 5 minutes of struggle i gave up and waited for help from the concierge.

Check in was painless, cold towel and drink was nice. Explanation given on the hotel.

Our room was lovely, recently refurbished I think, nice bed and entertainment system. Bathroom was nice and spacious. However there were some slatted glass openings in our room that would not close properly/broken which allowed mosquitos in, luckily the room amenities provided mosquito killer.

Beach was simply lovely, two sides...calm lagoon and crashing waves. Nice view of the airplanes taking off from the airport. Beach attendants available for drinks and snacks.

Bars were nice, we were on an AI package, good choice of drinks.

Restaurants- ok, really nothing too special. Buffet busy/hectic. A couple of restaurants to choose from, take care even if you make a reservation it feels like you are rushed to eat in order for the table to be made free for the next client.

Breakfast, we had to clean our own table one morning, find our own cutlery- not a great way to start your day. A large choice available. However we were not going to let this spoil our stay, as the staff seemed quite helpful most of the time.

overall a nice stay but there are much sweeter places to stay in Mauritius.
