Just spent 15 of the most glorious days at the 5 star all inclusive Shandrani. Totally heaven on earth . The staff are fantastic and the hotel and all the restaurants were totally beautiful. I am very picky and travelling with a small child and a 14 year old we are not the easiest group as we all want different things from a holiday, Shandrani caters for all. Unlimited watersports, golf tennis, trips, snorkelling trips, 2 beautiful spas and gorgeous beaches you could not possibly complain or be bored here. The
food was amazing and the staff were so so wonderful we truly didn't want to leave - we will most definitely be back

We had a great family holiday at Shandrani in July 2014. Hotel was perfect for my wife and I and our two kids (6 & 4). Food was great, kids club was good and all round the service was brilliant.

It was our 3rd visit to Mauritius and this was definitely the best, everything in the hotel was included at it was all of a high standard.

For a family wanting a truly relaxing family holiday we would definitely recommend Shandrani.

We spent 5 nights here in July. A really good range of facilities. We particularly enjoyed the Spa and the range of beaches. All of the meals were of a good quality and the all inclusive deal really is quality all inclusive.
I would stay again.

One down side is that this is a very popular resort for families. If you are looking for a quiet and romantic getaway then you might prefer another resort. I do think some spaces/places to eat which were child free would be helpful.

We stayed here for 11 nights on honeymoon at the beginning of July. For us everything was perfect and could not have had a better time if we had tried. The reason I title the review 5* for easy going people, this is the first real 5* resort I have stayed in although I do feel that the All Inclusive does in some way retract from the exclusivity that some people would expect from a 5 Star Resort. Personally I feel this is a 5* All Inclusive resort, heres why:

Upon arrival, we were greeted straight away by a concierge and our bags were taken to our room, which was ready around 6 hours before the advertised check in time. The concierge brought over a welcome drink and sat down with us to go through the information we needed to know during our stay and checked us in. We were taken to our room by a porter and introduced to our housekeeping staff Javed, who looked after us for the duration of our stay.

In all the restaurants the service was exception and they do not skimp on the all inclusive, they are constantly offering you more drinks, another bottle of wine etc. but not too invasive which I feel is very important. The staff could not do enough to please us.

The hotel has two spas, we visited both. The smaller spa has indoor treatment rooms and is a very relaxing atmosphere. We had our complimentary massages in a double treatment room followed by a clarins facial we had paid extra for. The facial was exceptional, I have had a fair few in the UK, but this was really special.
The wellness centre has more facilities including a swimming pool. The treatment rooms are all outdoor which was pleasant although I did get a few insect bites. The therapists were very informative and could explain well all the treatments before your booked them.

We tried all the restaurants during our stay. You have to prebook the al a carte ones and before we went we were concerned we would not be able to get in after reading other reviews. We emailed the hotel a couple of days before travel requesting specific dates etc and they replied the same day confirming this was booked. During our stay, we also booked into a Mauritian night at Le Sirius and paid extra for a dinner under the stays on our last night.
There was not one meal which was anything less than exceptional in our opinion. The buffet restaurant has plenty of options and the al a carte restaurants served exceptional fine dining standard food. We particularly enjoyed The Boucanier seafood restaurant which served a 5 course tasting menu.

There is plenty of choice again when in comes to the all inclusive activities. We used them everyday although we stuck to the same ones. The snorkelling trips are twice a day using the hotels own boat and they provide the snorkels, flippers and life jackets if required. There are thousands of fish in the bay and it was a really special experience each time we went out.
We also went out on the Pedlos and Kayaks offered near the Sirius, These were so much fun and there was the whole bay to explore so no end of fun.

Separate to the Hotel we went on three private excursions.
We booked a day trip from the beach with a man called Marcus who has a smaller boat than most but it is ideal for exploring as it can go into shallow waters which we noted alot of the larger speedboats had to avoid routes we were taking. He took us sea fishing, Snorkelling and to a remote island to have a picnic. He was very knowledgeable and ensured we had a great trip. It cost 4000 rupees around £ 80 for a whole day, just the two of us.

We went on two tours using the beachcombers recommended company, Maurtourco.
The trips were well organised and we had a private driver who again was very knowledgeable and was keen to make sure we had a good time. The roads in Mauritius vary in quality, our driver was rather enthusiastic at times which was scary but this seemed to be the cultural norm.

As we were on Honeymoon we had certain benefits from the hotel, free tshirts, beachbag, sarong, free massages, Room Service all included no tray charge and an extensive minibar which was topped up daily. We had our own sunloungers and coolbox which was filled with cold drinks.

Overall I will say that every member of staff went out of their way to ensure we were having a great experience. I don't often revisit the same place as there are so many other places to explore but I can see us returning to the Shandrani at somepoint in the future.

Thanks to all the staff for such a memorable Honeymoon

My wife and I were lucky enough to spend our honeymoon here in July last year. The resort was complete paradise. Great choice of restaurants, we particularly enjoyed the teak elephant. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. I would highly recommend hiring a speed boat with a guide to take you on a tour of the coast, we thoroughly enjoy this experience, particularly the snorkelling and fishing. that we were able to do. The shandrani were able to organise several trips for us. Our highlights were talking with lions tour and seeing the seven sands. The perfect honeymoon and we hope to visit again one day.

It's got it's ups and downs but overall Shandrani is amazing. The staff are friendly, the beachs are stunning, the rooms are not bad, they offer lots of extra activities, Your most likely to enjoy your holiday but you could always do better in Mauritius, the food was not that amazing, the airport is way to close to the resort so you would wake up in the middle of the night from loud noises. But there are lots of fun boat trips you can go on, I enjoyed these the most- but what ever you do ask for "Eric" he's the best guy.

Beautiful location on Blue Bay. Very easy transfer from the airport.
Great facilities for families with children of all ages. Inclusive package includes what you would expect. Also, evening cocktails, choice of wines, champagne, golf, sailing, wake boarding, snorkelling, kids club, evening live music and many more.

The layout of the resort is superb, with both a calm tropical lagoon and a wilder beach with waves. Lovely landscaping. Beautiful and spacious.
The rooms are spacious and all (I think) overlook the sea.
Food is good. Big buffet and smaller Asian, Fish and Italian restaurants. All included.
The hotel is very organised. Reception, bill payment, room choice, etc.

If I had to pick some very minor criticisms, I would say the rooms are just a little dated. The restaurant staff could be a little more friendly and outgoing.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for a family.

Room Tip: All room locations are good. I prefer to be nearer the main restaurant and pool.
