“Beautiful beach”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

This lovely public beach is a joy to visit. Our preference was to sit around the corner in front of the apartments as this made it a little bit quieter.
There is a roped of safe swim area which is quite large and there are all of the water sports available that you would imagine from donuts to scuba diving.
A beautiful place to be

“Small, but beautifully marked”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

This is a lovely bathing beach, soft sand and no coral fragments make for a really pleasant time. Unfortunately it is rather small, you can walk along to other nearby coves, but the boundary walls to other property do make it difficult in places.
There are a few sunbeds on the beach, but it’s possible to sit free under the trees although that normally means sitting on the ground or you can sit on a raised concrete area at the back of the beach in the sun, when we visited there were none of the problems MarcoJustino reported. During our visit 1 person approached us about boat trips and went away with a smile when we said we weren’t interested, and we were around the beach from 10.20am until it was dark.
We visited on a sunny Sunday in April and the beach and safe swimming area were extremely crowded. When we arrived there were only a few empty car park spaces. Visiting on a Sunday gives you a chance to share the beach with the locals; I assume weekdays will be much quieter.
The car park is not clearly signed. If coming from Grande Baie go past Merville Beach and you will see a turning on the left with cars parked; do not go down it as the No Entry sign is well hidden, continue on the main road until you see the one way entry to the car park, which comes after you pass the car park.
Despite the crowds the beach was very clean throughout the day, and the toilets were in excellent condition. Various food outlets are available.
So why have I only given it 4 stars? It is so small, triple its size and it would be a 5 star beach. If you are staying north of Port Louis it’s the prettiest beach I’ve found in the area. However south of the city on the west coast there are prettier beaches, although none have such a good smooth sand base..

“Astonishing experience”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

A nice serene atmosphere, spoilt by the occasional vendor of pleasure rides.
With a nice row of shady trees, with a line of food vendors selling local dishes and stuff, it can be understood why its one of the best beaches!

“awesome beach but watch out for the local clan”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

a beautiful beach but now run by a crew of local rogues who mark off 90 percent of the beach area....100 percent of the shaded tree portion, forcing you to hire beach chairs and umbrellas and astronomical prices!!!.......tell the local crew to get lost (you'll know who they are as they sit under trees and delegate as if they wn the place) and enjoy one of the cleanest water beaches in mauritius.
