“Amazing place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2013 via mobile

My partner wanted to surprise me by a romantic escape and I must say that he really succeed by choosing this amazing and chic place called 20 degrees sud!!.
I've been in quite a few hotel in Mauritius now, but this one is so unique by its atmosphere.. Quality of service, so friendly, welcoming and professional staff.
We had such a lovely and unforgettable time..
We booked a catamaran trip to flat island and it is one of the most beautiful day of our lives..
The room was stunning with the private jacuzzi and amazing view on the bay.
Thanks to the staff, specially to the managers and owner Anne and Michel for their hospitality.
Looking forward for another weekend..
Bianca and Stef

If you are looking for a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere for your honeymoon coupled with the friendliest staff then look no further. We spent 10 nights in a suite (room 39) with its own private jacuzzi and hammock along with beautiful ocean views. Food is excellent as are the staff - nothing is too much trouble for them. The flat island excursion is a must.

Thank you 20 degrees for a memorable honeymoon!!

Room Tip: We've heard that the charm rooms are small, and so we recommend the beach fronts or suites (roo...

We have just returned from our Honeymoon in Mauritius and really had a wonderful stay. We had a warm welcome and were made to feel truly at home for our entire 2 week stay. We stayed in a suite that had a great view of the bay - we loved it.

We didn't venture far because we simply didn't need to - we wanted to relax and not do much and that's exactly what we did! We had great food, good wine and we found all the staff to be friendly and helpful - in particular the restaurant team were great and extremely friendly.

There were trips available but we didn't feel the need to leave the resort - the only thing we did do was have dinner on the Lady Lisbeth which we thoroughly enjoyed (a beautiful restored boat). A lovely way to spend the evening and the food was great.

We used the dive school and loved the interaction we had with Jean Lincoln (the owner and dive instructor) - we did some great dives and he made us feel welcome and very much part of the furniture!

20 Degrees Sud is a place to go to relax and chill out.....and eat cake at 4pm! Certainly one to recommend.

Room Tip: Go for a suite if you can - you get a jacuzzi!

My husband and I have just come back from a wonderful stay at 20 Degress Sud. We felt immediately at home, after being welcomed with a cocktail to enjoy by the pool. We stayed in one of the suites (room 39), this was on the top floor and had an amazing view of the sea. We also had a jacuzzi and hammock on the terrace for ultimate relaxation! I would recommend one of the beach front rooms/suites for the obvious reason of the view across the bay, but also because they are quieter being away from the pool and restaurant.
We stayed full board plus which was brilliant, lots of choices of meals available off the a la carte menu, and also the menu of the day which was totally different each night we were there. I am a vegetarian and the chef was very accomadating, making me different meals each night.
The staff were all wonderful and very helpful.
The hotel exceeded our expectations, we had the most amazing honeymoon there, and would love to go back again some day!

Room Tip: First floor suites/beach rooms at the front of the hotel with a view of the sea are by far the best...

The service was good and so was the food. However, the whole experience was overshadowed by the cramped, shabby and insect infested rooms. We had two adjoining chalets and each consisted of a bedroom with attached bathroom. The room in one of these was so small that there was barely enough room to walk around the bed and the adjoining bathroom was only partially screened by a wooden hinged screen so no wall, no door and no privacy. The whole chalet was obviously old and shabby. We unpacked the clothes into the wardrobe and returned to it some hours later to find the clothes covered with small red ants. I complained to reception who advised that there was a can of insect killer in the room for the convenience of guests! Later in the evening there was worse to come as it became apparent that the chalet was also infested with cockroaches. I killed a couple by stamping on them and my wife and I debated whether to demand a change of rooms.
As we were only planning on staying one night and because we assumed that this was probably a problem in the other rooms as well we decided to tolerate the situation. This hotel markets itself as a boutique hotel, in reality it is somewhat ramshackle and decaying and the admittedly good service and food goes only some way to gloss over the poor standard of the accommodation.

Dear Madam,Sir,

We are definitely concerned about this unfortunate experience and we do apologize. Being in a tropical Island, we ensure a regular pest control program.

After the suggested option of the insect spray by the receptionist, it was assumed that the issue was fixed as clients didn’t revert back. As such, even guests were staying for one night a room move would have been possible.

Rest assured that our clients’ well being is our utmost priority and we will concentrate more on follow up when resolving an issue to avoid these kind of situations again.
Again, we sincerely apologize,
Best Regards,
Michel Bourgeois,
Owner & Director.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. We cannot thank the owners, Anne and Michel, and all the staff we met for making our week so pleasant. We enjoyed the boutique nature of the hotel, with every room different but charming, We upgraded to a suite and were delighted with the result.. The staff were excellent. Mauritius has always been famous for its friendly service, but on this, our seventh trip, we found this hotel reached a new height in courtesy, friendliness and efficiency. We felt wanted, special guests in a way that a large hotel can never attain.
The food is magnificent,; we selected the degustation menu for our last night and Sanjeev, the Executive Chef discussed our likes before the evening. The result was a local feast that would not have disgraced a many starred Michelin restaurant.
From Anne and Michel to our chambermaid we made many friends, even to the point where the chambermaid tried to teach us the Sega dance!
This is very much suited to couples who want peace and relaxation in luxury surroundings with personal service of the highest quality.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are all slightly different giving them a special charm. All to the same quality. Sui...

Its a bit difficult to write everything we would like to about these guys, and there is a rising instinct in us to try to keep this hotel a secret. The service was superb. The restaurant had so many pleasant surprises to offer. Eating there was just simply a treat. We think that it is perhaps the fact that so many herbs and spices are grown there that the chef's are so innovative.
As a location is was perfect. There are miles of beautiful public beaches within a very short walk, or borrow a bike from the hotel!
We took several excursions while we stayed here. Our favourite was the trip to the governors house on a private island. we snorkelled, swam and had lunch at the hotels private restaurant. Fantastic. It was remote, very comfortable and stunning. This is not a "ticks all the boxes" commercial hotel, this is a unique one-off, and marvellous for it.

Room Tip: If you can get an upper room there are some very high and private sun decks which are superb. But th...
