2 weeks of pure bliss at the grand gaube, the hotel lives up to all expectations however the staff make your stay memorable, all of the restaurants are spot on and the choice of food just right, the beach team and in particular Kumar made sun beds 1 and 2 a real home from home. The bar offers a place to chill and relax, Sandren and his team really take care off all the guests and provide fun filled socialising and entertainment. All in all a great place to unwind and relax

Room Tip: We upgraded to one of the top floor suites and was very pleased with the room

We stayed at the LUX over Christmas this year with teenagers in tow - hoping that everyone would be catered for. We were so pleased with our choice - I will find it hard to forget the view as you walk into reception after the mamouth trip out - it takes your breath away. What makes this a really special place is the staff - everyone of them is so friendly, but not in a 'in your face' way. The hotel got really busy over the Christmas period, but as we had got to know the staff by then we were treated amazingly well - tables reserved, drinks waiting etc. The food was superb for a buffet restaurant - maybe not enough choice of pasta etc for the fussy teenagers, but the excellent pizzas at the beach restaurant made up for this at lunchtime. We missed a tex mex night at the beach restaurant one evening - so they laid one on for us another night. I can honestly say I did not want to leave this beautiful place, and it was harder to leave when lots of the lovely staff came out to see us off, and even bought us gifts. My husband finds it hard not to tip staff so we did leave a small amount most days, but we really feel that it was appreciated, If you are looking for a great family hotel with free watersports, beaches, pools, and good food/entertainment then Go - you will love it!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are a fair walk, but the furthest ones by the Banyann tree pool have a lovely quie...

My Girlfriend and I went recently to the Lux Grande Gaube to celebrate a 30th birthday. The hole experience was fantastic, especially all of the staff who constantly made you feel welcome and had a smile in their faces. One of the highlights for me was the water sports that were included in the Half Board package, and the boat house were only too happy to help you at all times. The food was also very good, with lots of variety. Especially the Beach Restaurant that had a great menu and lovely pizzas :-) The spa and Gym facilities are also amazing and great if you want to exercise or relax. The little touches, such as changing you towels twice a day, message in a bottle, and the special Mauritian birthday came are all fantastic and add to the experience. The 'entertainers' at night brought a smile to everyone's face. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a beautiful holiday in paradise. I'd also recommend the speed boat trip that takes you to il aux Cerfs!!

We went here for our honeymoon and fell in love with the hotel. The hotel is amazing and very luxurious set in beautiful surroundings. The staff were so friendly, they could not do enough for us, providing an excellent service. We made good friends with the barmen Sandren, who makes the effort to keep in touch with us even now - 2 months after our stay.
The rooms range from basic to Superior, being that it was our honeymoon we upgraded.
The food was excellent, all be it a little repetitive if your stay is longer than a week. There is a choice of two a'la Carte restaurants (Mediterranean and Fish) and we recommend both. The location of Grande Gaube is a 20 minute bus/cab ride to the nearest town Grande Baie.
There are plenty of trips that you can do and the staff are more than willing to assist in arranging this for you.
This hotel is ideal for both holidaymakers that would like a restful stay and those who like to be out to see and do. There are watersports within the hotel aswell as various boat trips, a spa and an onsite Doctor. There is even a big red phone box situated in the centre of the hotel where you can phone home for FREE!!
Mauritus and our stay on this island was amazing and this hotel made a big contribution to our experience of Mauritius. we would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for. Basic are regular rooms with not much to them and slightly dated whereas t...

The rooms are lovely and sport a very nice view, the staff is amazing, the food is just great. I cannot think of any one thing that went wrong - we were pampered all the way. I would certainly want to go there again!

We've just had the most amazing 12 Days at the LUX Grand Gaube celebrating a Birthday with our adult children and their partners. We flew direct from Perth & two direct from London. Our experience at the Lux was far beyond expectations from the time we arrived to the time we departed. The service from all the staff in all areas of the hotel was excellent, always smiling, friendly, extremely efficient and very accommodating. We had a Junior suite and two deluxe rooms at the far end of the hotel, facing the ocean in the second cove which were absolutely delightful, clean and spacious, well worth the money. The food was exceptional ! whether you were at the restaurants, bar or buffet. We had all inclusive which was great value. Our favourite would have to be The Beach, the menu there was amazing with a variety of cuisines and close to our rooms. One evening our children organised with the hotel staff to have our dinner set up (for 6 people) on our patio under the stars by candle light as a surprise! and wow! what a fantastic job they did! it was beautiful, better than any Michelin Star restaurant. Thank you to all involved. The grounds are beautifully manicured and all the staff smartly dressed. The water sports (free and paying) are great, the water a little cold this time of the year but we were very lucky with the weather for 11 of 12 days with temperatures during the day 27-29degs C. Cooler in the evening. We had 2 cocktail evenings with entertainment whilst we were there, lots of fun. The Spa is a definite must do !
The Lux is a little isolated, but that's what we wanted for a holiday, to relax and enjoy the family, which we did. We had two whole days sightseeing and experiencing many of the main attractions (the hotel even made up Picnic baskets for us to take - unbelievably great food) which was fun but we were very happy to get back to the hotel and enjoy our own little piece of paradise ! Going this time of the year was also good as it wasn't crowded and no queues to wait in.
Mauritius is a beautiful Island with beautiful friendly people, it will definitely be a holiday destination again and definitely at the Lux Grand Gaube.

We have just returned from an 8 day stay at Lux Grande Gaube for our 10th wedding anniversary, and would like say how wonderful our experience was, contrary to some of the reviews on here. We flew direct from Gatwick on the overnight 11 and 3/4hr flight which admittedly was a bit tiring and had our hire car (arranged thorough Atlas) waiting for us the other end. After just over an hour drive along the motorway via Port Louis we arrived at Lux Grande Gaube around 8am and was expecting to have to wait for a while, while our room was vacated/cleaned due to our early arrival but no this was not the case. On arrival we were greeted with fresh orange juice and towels to freshen up with and 20 mins later we got our room which was great - not bad considering normal checkout is 11am. The whole complex is very well maintained and the staff are all very polite and friendly. We had an Ocean View room on an all inclusive basis, which was very clean and serviced daily but do be careful with the minibar as the snacks cost a supplement. Do mention to the hotel in advance if you are celebrating any event like we did as they go that bit further, for example we had a special meal arranged, T-shirt/Sarong and Champagne and cake given at no extra cost.
The food was really good too, the Kitchen restaurant had a wide ranged buffet for breakfast and dinner, and the Abalone and Beach restaurant A La Carte dinner but need booking prior (but not for lunch), and must mention Diran for exceptional service.
Free phone to dial home was also a nice touch and all in all the hotel deserves it's 5 star rating based on our experience.
Driving in Mauritius is an experience though - same side as UK but many obstacles like dogs and bikes to negotiate not to mention the air polluting coaches and sign posts/maps can be a challenge if you have no sat nav.
Recommend visiting Casela Nature Park, Sucre Adventure, beaches at Belle Mare, Le Morne, and Grande Bay, Cauden Waterfront Mall in Port Louis, and Le Vanilla Crocodile Park.
In summary excellent hotel and Mauritius is lovely with some stunning scenery and will definitely be returning.
