“Relax”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

Far from the restaurants and night and day life, going out from the hotel is a small trip. More than 1hour far from Port Louis, staying at the hotel is the best option if you don't want to waste time in a taxi. If your plan is relax and go to the beach, this hotel has one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. If you plan to make excursions and visit the island, I would rather choose another hotel nearer from the touristic attractions. The service is excellent, they made some mistakes but always apologized and overcompensated. They had as well a very nice detail for my birthday. The restaurants are very expensive and you don't have the option of going out of the hotel for less than 25 minutes in taxi to find a cheaper place. However, the rooms are very nice and clean, the swimming pool and spa are perfect but, over all, the beaches of this hotel are really worth it.

We have booked a senior beach front suite with a big terrasse overlooking the ocean (1st floor!). Next to our group of houses is a nice swimming pool which is heated. The sea is fresh, swimming is possible but due to strong winds a bit difficult, a must are plastic shoes to walk into the water.
The cuisine is good to very good (saveurs des Iles was our favourite restaurant - reservation necessary). We had the all incl. "Club" package which is not really worth it (too far away from the rooms, unattractive offer - you are not allowed to take anything to your own room or terrasse).
You get a lot of kind smiles if you are also friendly to the staff - from other guests we heard that they had nowhere in other hotels they visited such service-minded and freindly staff)

Room Tip: at the beach front chose 1st floor to have the nice view and the privacy from other guests

We occupied a family suite (senior with adjoining junior) and three more junior suites. All beachfront. All with the Club option. The rooms were excellent, spacious and well appointed. Ground floor rooms, so had nice patio with direct access to lawn and beach.

Nespresso machines are a nice touch, but unfortunately no fresh milk available in the room. Cremora cream powder a poor substitute.

Bose iPod speakers with docks used to be a nice touch when all iPods and iPhones used the old 30 pin connectors. You are out of luck if you have new iPhone with lightning connector.

There were no electrical outlets in easily accessible places for charging the various mobile devices that accompany most travellers these days. Probably a reflection of the age of the hotel, but can easily be rectified.

TV picture quality on especially the DSTV channels were very poor. Disappointing for a hotel of this price level. Struggled to identify the players while watching the FIFA World Cup final. Selection of english kiddies channels also disappointing with nothing available for toddlers. French speaking channels were generally of wider variety and better picture quality.

Service throughout the hotel was of a high standard. Staff friendly and helpful.

Kiddies Club was great, with lots of outdoors activities. And my boys loved especially Damian.

Pool next to our rooms were heated, which was great, especially as the days were not that hot.

Gym and tennis courts of excellent quality.

We had the Club luxury option, which included access to the Club, essentially a semi private lounge that served drinks all day long and small breakfasts and canapés. We didn't get much value out of this option.

We ate at the neighbouring Paradis hotel's main restaurant every night, as we found the setup and food to be more kid friendly than at Dinarobin. My kids enjoyed the regular golf cart trips to and from Paradis.

A few of our days at Dinarobin was windy, very windy. This was great for me who went to Le More partly for kitesurfing. I noticed though that the wind seemed to be the worst at Dinarobin, with both neighbouring hotels Paradis and St Regis being a lot less windy. Think it has something to do with the mountain and the hotel's position relative to it.

Room Tip: Pick ground floor if you have kids. Check if the pool (there are a few) close to your room is heated...

Our silver wedding anniversary, my 50th and our daughter's 21st to be celebrated. And belated graduation celebrations for our 23 year-old son too I suppose. We wanted somewhere really special, but with plenty to keep us occupied. Mauritius and Dinarobin in particular didn't disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the friendly service was faultless. The suites were terrific, the food from breakfast, through the beach bar and on to the main restaurants was perfect. Special mention for Il Gusto - definitely our favourite of all! Golf is brilliant, but the course is a tough test. We loved each time we played. (Don't bother making the trip up to Tamarina for golf though - it might be good when it has matured a bit, but at the moment it is a very unforgiving, unfinished and unsatisfactory course.) Tennis courts got plenty of use and were much appreciated. So too the well equipped gym. We also made good use of the terrific boathouse across at Paradis - we now have 2 very proficient wind-surfers in the family and 2 not so proficient laser sailors! Kayaks and pedalos also great fun.

We were there late June/early July, so winter time. Although Mauritius is apparently an all-year-round destination, you do get the impression that things slow down or even take a break through the winter. Not all the trips we had contemplated (swimming with dolphins for example) seemed to be available. But weather was fine almost every day and mid 20s is quite warm enough for us. The wind didn't stop blowing most of the time we were there, but apart from occasional inconvenience on the golf course, it doesn't really matter. But you do need to be up and going in good time soon after it gets light to make sure you use the hours of sunshine through to mid-afternoon. Not that getting motivated to go and eat Dinarobin's sumptuous breakfast is much of a problem!

What we didn't end up doing was as much exploration of Mauritius as we had intended. Although we had a car (truck actually and that's what you need) for 10 days, it takes interminable time to get anywhere, especially if you start from a remote corner like Le Morne. 2 hours across the island to Sea Kayak near Goodlands was a real trial. Port Louis is not much more than a smelly, belching bus-laden, traffic jam. Not much was flowering at the renowned botanical gardens. So we largely kept our exploring to the SW of the island - and we found plenty to admire and entertain us around the Chamarel area and Le Morne. But mostly we just loved being spoiled at Dinarobin!

Overall, Dinarobin creates a wonderfully serene, relaxing holiday environment. It worked as well for the energetic early 20s as it did for the slightly more circumspect 40 somethings! Service is faultless, everyone genuinely wants to help you enjoy your stay and somehow, just about every member of staff seems to recognise you and know your name within 24 hours of being there - how do they do that?! It's brilliant.

Go and stay at Dinarobin - you will love it.

Room Tip: Every suite is good really. The pools inside the 5 crescents are brilliant, so avoid the first cresc...

We spent 10 days at the Dinarobin, in June/July 2013.
The Dinarobin and next door sister resort, Le Paradis, share the same private grounds and golf course, forming a continuous beach front along a long stretch of sandy coastline. If you feel like stretching your legs, you can take moderately long walks in complete safety.
The main feature is the choice and quality of restaurants and food. You can use any of the restaurants in either resort and the food is superb.

We had a lovely, large old colonial style room. Not what I would call luxurious but very well appointed, with a superb luxury bathroom and located only a few steps from the beach.
I would also recommend a club room or suite as this gives free access to the club house, with free drinks, snacks, afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks. It's also a nice a/c haven from the hottest weather.

A very high quality of service and warm and friendly staff.
We have stayed at numerous 5 star and 5 star plus hotels and this resort rates very highly in our estimation.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Go for a Club room or suite and half-board. Beach fronted rooms are only a few metres closer to the...

We stayed here for our 2nd week of our holiday after getting married next door at Le paradis the previous week. To be honest we didnt want to leave Le Paradis after the first week as we were in "paradise" . However, we were extremely impressed with this hotel. The reception area and pool.bar area etc is one of the nicest i have ever seen at any hotel, especially the bar. I would say the 2 hotels work perfectly how they are connected. I would say this is marginally the nicer of the 2 hotels, however, the beach at Paradis is definately better, and is a bit more confined.
The food at the Dinarobin though is out of this world. Every restaurant served food at the highest quality every night and with a lot of variance. If you stay here, definately upgrade to a club suite room. With this you get access to the "Club". This is like a private VIP room where you can go and have drinks and food during the day etc. The best thing being, all the drinks are free here from 8am to 8pm (Beers, spirits, cocktails, wine etc... ) Food is alos served in here throughout the day. We had the most amazing 2 weeks between the 2 hotels and cannot wait to be back next year!
