“Paradise!”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the anantara - incredibly beautiful scenery (including a spa in the st idyllic setting imaginable), utterly amazingly food and the most lovely, warm and accommodating staff possible (seek out rui for the best cocktails, Conrad & Sergio for great chat & local knowledge). If you're there on honeymoon, the private meal on the beach is well worth doing - insanely good food and very romantic, the trip to see the dilapidated hotel on a neighbouring island is also well worth the visit. We were there very much in off season (1 of only 3 couples), which was awesome and v luxurious, and the only negative comment I could make is that the general manager and his wife at times felt like the fourth couple there - sunbathing and drinking from the bar, but showing no desire to talk to the (very few) other guests, which was a shame. However this does not detract from what has been the best week ever at a truly incredible hotel.

Dear Claire s
Warm greetings from sunny Bazaruto Island!
First of all we wish to thank you for sharing your recent stay experience on TripAdvisor.
We read with pleasure that you have enjoyed our hotel facilities and activities as well as our food offerings.
On a personal note I wish to apologize to have given the impression not to have engaged more with you as I was on my off day and my wife was visiting me for vacation, which certainly is not an excuse.
In any case it would be a pleasure to be able to welcome you back one day and do not hesitate to contact me personally in case of any further comment you wish to share.
Sincere regards

We have just returned from our Honeymoon in Mozambique, ending with a 6 night stay at Anantara, Bazaruto Island... We had such a wonderful experience with all the very very friendly smiley staff, Eliza, Sergio, James, Nikki, Store ( his name in English!) to name but a few... they made our stay so easy and could not be more helpful making us feel extremely special.
Would recommend anyone looking to relax with sun, sand and sea.. with fantastic gourmet food, the Karan Beef and seafood curry exceptional.
The Spa, not being a Spa person, was even for me a wonderful experience... we had a couples lotions and potions for hair, face and body, steamed ( sounds like something you would do with vegetables... but this was for us!!) then rinsed off all inside a beautifully designed room... who could ask for more??
The sand dune boarding was amazing fun... and the views awesome... we have so many great photos... will be back... Lindsay and Neil

Room Tip: We had a lovely room... well more a small apartment 118... overlooking the sea and took 30 seconds t...

We had such a wonderful time on this island. Fabulous welcome by Roberto who introduced us to his chef on our arrival who freshly made gluten free bread and food for me - I felt like I was treated like royalty!

My children were taught how to play Mancala on the first evening and from that point onwards we were all hooked and played as much as we could. We loved snorkelling, enjoyed the pitch and putt, had fun surfing the sand dunes and I even went for the first time on a horse !

Everything was immaculate. The whole team were very friendly. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough! I truely hope that one day we'll be able to return!

An exclusive 5 star luxury hotel that is guaranteed to take your breath away with extravagant private sea-view villa's, two great restaurants that prepare a variety of unique gourmet dishes that include fresh hearty seafood and a culinary palate that extends from authentic Mediterranean cuisine all the way to the more exotic and aromatic flavors of Asia the Middle-East and Africa. The Hotel which seems more like a private Island retreat is a mind blowing experience from the moment the chartered plane launches from the ground as you traverse the vast glistening blue ocean and glide above the Archipelagos on a one way trip to paradise. Upon arrival the beauty of a pristine gem is visible a natural, unspoiled location that is a true reflection of an African retreat. It is a destination yet to be explored with a wide selection of activities and pastimes. The Ocean Surrounding the Island is also known to be a national Marine park which is home to some of the world's most precious and rare marine life such as the nearly extinct Dugong. The Resort also offers activities such a Scuba diving, canoeing, dune surfing, and horse riding.Regular trips are made to the historically rich Island Santa Carolina more popularly known as 'Paradise Island' where one can enjoy fine dining right on the beach as you overlook the crystal clear turquoise water. This is the perfect location for those who seek the thrill of an African adventure but also the serene atmosphere of isolation and privacy needed for rest and a truly remote experience of nature. I would certainly recommend this resort as a must see location for families and couples alike.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally special because they are exclusive and spread apart for optimum privacy and lu...

I have passed my New Years there, and the weather wasn't fantastic but if you need to relax and stay with your beloved one is amazing. The food is not the best after some days everything taste the same, the breakfast is delicious and the water temperature was fantastic. The ppl were very kind and helpful, we stay in one of the last houses in the left side, is a bit far from the restaurant and swimming pool but if you go to relax those are the best houses. U must go by airplane the views are fantastic.

Traveling for the first time to the Southern Hemisphere for a quick winter escape we must say we will be back. Friends suggested to try Mozambique - well we heard a lot but did not know anything- we choose the resort based on web search and saw it has been rebranded - as well as the comfort to arrive directly from Johannesburg were we stayed before a couple of nights. It was just breathtaking - the location still not really discovered by the grand tourist masses, the beach is yours you hardly see other persons around - the hotel was in low occupancy so it was very nice to enjoy the daily changing dinner concepts with few other visitors mainly from South Africa but as well some from Europe .
The staff was outstanding, Roberto and Jonathan, the managers of the place did an amazing job and were always around - Sergio and his restaurant staff charmed us with their friendliness - the food was so good always fresh fish and lots of choice - grilled lobster on the beach barbecue eating while your feet touch the sand - what else do you wish for! The spa has sn amazing location with breathtaking views and the beach villas are spacious , comfortable and provide private access to the sea to have your morning swim! We did two excursions - one on the other side of the island were you pass by the interior with stunning lakes to reach dunes high 20 meters with a piece of undiscovered beauty. The other to a desert island in front of the resort to enjoy a private barbecue on the beach and some snorkeling - we will be back that's for sure!

Dear Travellergipsy,

Warm greetings from Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent holiday, it was a pleasure getting to know you both.

The cultural drive experience is certainly an informative way to spend a morning in a comfortable four wheel drive with safari seating enabling guests to take in the spectacular island surroundings including crocodiles in the lakes. The tour concludes by visiting one of the local schools and communities that make up the three thousand inhabitants of Bazaruto before returning in time for lunch.

I will pass on your gratitude to the members of the team mentioned who had assisted in making your holiday so special.

I look forward to welcoming you back please feel free to contact me when you wish to return it will be my pleasure to personally assist you with your reservation arrangements and ensure we take excellent care of you once again.
