Just got back from a 4 day trip to the seychelles .. The island is beautiful but my stay at the kempinski ruined my experience . VERY bad service and the choice of food was awful ! I will definitely choose the four seasons or the banyan tree on my next visit to beautiful seychelles .

We just got back from our trip to beautiful Seychelles. We were a large group of 18 people. A mix of adults and children.
Pros: beautiful landscape, nice rooms with a comfortable sitting area and big closets. Everyone at the reception and concierge
was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: very limited choice of food at the restaurants and extremely slow service! An hour and 15 mins to receive your order is unacceptable . At breakfast you feel invisible because all the waiters are running around attending to the many guests yet have no time to serve you. Quality of food is mediocre. Strange that the whole time we were there (4days) we never saw any creole influence in their food.

We stayed in Kempinski, Seychelles for about a week for our honeymoon. It was superb! The scenery around the resort is breathtaking! The staff are friendly, special thanks to Sheena for making our stay a memorable one. We had a warm welcome when we reached the resort. The food is good, with loads of variety. We stayed in a suite, it was fabulous, with a lot of chilling out corners. The suite faces the beach, which is just a few minutes' away. The beach is awesome!
The resort also kept a few horses and giant tortoises. Some activities that you can do at the resort includes scuba diving, ride in a helicopter, spa etc. We went island hopping (Praslin and La Digue). The beaches there are super inviting with clear blue water. We also visited Victoria. You can find a few eateries there which are nice.
Really hope to go back to Kempinski in the near future. Highly recommended for honeymooners!

This was our first time in Seychelles and first time staying in Kempinski. We were travelling with a toddler. In this review we are comparing the island and the hotel to our travel experience with our baby/ toddler in Mauritius, Maldives, Thailand and Malaysia.

The island and in particular the location of the hotel are gorgeous and the beach and the sea are the best we have experienced so far. It definitely competes with Maldives. The availability of restaurants and the variety of food overall were a little bit disappointing. It appears to be that there is not a big culture of eating out. We also expected to find more fresh fish dishes which was not the case.

What went well:
- we got a room upgrade to garden deluxe (with helicopter landing in front of it now and then)
- the beach is clean and the sea is shallow. The bay is protected by a corals riff.
- thee restaurants, all with similar prices $150 per meal ( dinner or lunch) for two of us without wine. Child food is complimentary. We liked the beach restaurant the most.
- our bed was magically comfy and the rooms were always clean. The room service was good as you would expects from a 5 star hotel.
- our little one liked the kids club, saying that she was there only once for an hour
- some of the staff went above and beyond what was expected of them. Rosy from the beach restaurant and Ashok from the main restaurant made everything possible to make us and our little daughter feel welcome and accommodate any extra request our little one had with respect to food options. Thanks a lot to Ashok and Rosy.

We was disappointing
- A helicopter landing was located in front of our garden view room. The helicopters took off and landed up to 5 times a day during the day. Sometimes it prevented our daughter from falling asleep during the nap time.
- We have Mosquito bites all over our bodies. You do not see or hear them. But the biting happens during the dinner time. Insect repelled is highly recommended.
- Our flight was at midnight and we were asked to leave the room at noon without any option of late check out. Being without a room with a toddler who needs a bed for a nap, a shower and just time to cool down during the day is quite difficult. We were given an option to take a shower in a gym, which was cold, shabby and hardly had any pressure. We were told that our toddler can sleep in a spare room on a massage table (lol - this comment can only come from a childless person). I met other very upset mothers in this shower with kids and no room facing the same issue.
- after the check out at noon, we were also refused the free internet access which is linked to the room. I felt that after we were checked out, we ceased to exist as customers. This whipped out all the god memories we made in 10 days of our stay.

We will come back to Seychelles, but most probably not back to Kempinski.

Lucky me, I was put up here for work when I went to the Seychelles last year on a business trip. I can say this is one of the better hotels I have ever stayed in. They are hitting on all cylinders: food, service, rooms, amenities, etc. If you can afford it, you won't be disappointed.

The hotel itself is isolated, as most resorts in Seychelles are. You're going to spend almost all of your time here, on the resort. It's not near any restaurants or businesses, really. The grounds are beautiful, though. The rooms are spaced out in a variety of blocks that are separate from one another and covered by beautiful walking paths. The lobby is one of the nicest I've ever seen, with a lovely wood and open-air motif. From the lobby you can see down into the pool and past that, the ocean.

The Kempinski's slice of beach is not large, but it's nice enough. It's well appointed with plenty of chairs and places to sit. The sand is nice. The beach like I said is a bit small. If you are sunbathing you'll be set back a bit from the water, which is fine. There are lots of nice little bed-style seats around the pool and beach area also, which are great. The service is excellent here too.

They have an activities center, which on my day off I used to rent a kayak and take a guided tour up the beach to a second beach. This was great. Not strenuous but allowed me to get out a bit.

There are two restaurants on site, both ridiculously expensive. One is a buffet. Each night they do a seafood grill and they have a tremendous amount of food in the buffet. The other restaurant has a variety of foods from around the world to order in a more classy ambiance. Expect to pay $80+ per meal without a drink.

Breakfast buffet is great. Tons of food, beautiful open air restaurant to eat in. However, the staff did nothing to chase away the birds that would fly in to eat the cereal and other food that was left out. This is why I am downgrading the place from a 5 start to a 4 star rating. We asked multiple times over multiple days for the staff to please keep the birds out of the food, but no one obliged. They seemed not to care or even to understand that birds eating food out of the breakfast buffet was unsanitary and unacceptable. They just let it go. Some of the local staff was indeed a bit weak, but there are enough well-trained staff to balance it. Regardless, there should not be birds in the food, period.

The rooms are magnificent. Big, beautiful beds that are just right (not too soft, not too had) with a lovely canopy. There is a nice sitting area (living room) and the bathroom is simple, no tub in my room, but a lovely shower with the large overheard "rain" faucet. There are lots of nice amenities in the room--I appreciated the alarm clock with iPod hookup. Also, the satellite TV service is excellent, plus plenty of video on demand. I even had a little private balcony with a decent view. Wifi worked fine.

Staff was very helpful during the week that I was here and accommodated my many requests and made arrangements for me and my group as necessary regarding transportation and check out timing.

Most of the people staying here seemed to be honeymooners and couples, I didn't spot very many families with young kids.

A great place to stay if you can pay.

My wife and I have just returned from the Kempinski Seychelles resort. Seychelles is stunningly beautiful and everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel building is modern and our de-luxe beachside double room was spacious and exceptionally comfortable, and unlike may of the rooms in the hotel, had a bathroom rather than a shower room. The grounds were spacious, attractive and well-maintained. However the food lets the hotel down badly. Firstly the food is extremely expensive, and varies in quality from acceptable to downright poor. Choice is extremely limited, breakfasts are the same every day with far less choice than you would expect in a five star hotel. The lunches in the windsurf bar are quite good, but extremely expensive and with very little choice. If you don't like Caesar salad, or grilled fish or meat, then you are in trouble and although the Caesar salad is good, to pay £15 for a salad with four or five prawns is extremely high. Two skewers of grilled fish is just under £20, which is a lot of money for lunch. The choice for evening meals is the buffet or the "signature" Indochine restaurant, which can easily set you back £60 to £70 per head without any wine. The most galling thing is the fact the food is simply not good. The menu offers dishes from all over the world, but none are authentic and it seemed to us that the chef simply lacked the expertise to cook the dishes on the menu properly. But why have dishes on the menu that the chef couldn't cook properly? Surely there must be some dishes that he could cook properly. The buffet restaurant was no better. Although each evening was supposed to have a different theme, the first course boiled down every night to three or four salads, some of which were the same night after night and a few poorly cooked theme dishes. One night the desserts consisted of five or six banana desserts, which is fine if you like bananas, but it did not seem to dawn on the hotel that not everyone likes bananas and most nights there was limited fruit, usually carpaccio style. Some fruits do grow on the Island, so why not provide them to the guests. In a five star hotel you expect to pay an appropriate price for food, however you also expect it to be to a five star standard and you expect a buffet to provide a large choice. It is a great pity because the hotel could be great, but the management needs to go back to basics. One of the staff told me that the hotel was very busy this time last year, but there has been little repeat booking and the hotel was far from full this year. If the hotel wants to charge high prices, they must deliver. There are plenty other good hotels in the Seychelles.
