Overall I thought Bliss was a lovely hotel. We stayed in the garden side, which didn't have a sea view but was still very nice. Great to hear fruit bats in the mango trees at night, and there were some pretty cats wanding through the lush garden. The rest of the hotel and the beach is just across the road. The beach is beautiful and I loved the natural rock pool, which is a great and relaxing place for snorkelling. The sunset view is incredible.
However when we first arrived, I was walking down some outside steps towards the beach when I slipped and hit my foot, because the second-to-last step was missing. It had been turned around and there were some nasty-looking rusty nails sticking out from the side, so I could have hurt myself much worse. As it is my foot was badly bruised and still hurts a week later. When I told the management they just said "Oh, we know, it just happened today, we'll fix it tomorrow", and to be fair it was fixed by the next day. But I think it was very irresponsible of them not to have any kind of warning sign saying that one of the steps was missing.
This lack of attention to detail seems to fit with some of the other comments from reviewers.

The hotel has a good location, overlooking a small beach with good views from the rooms. I have to say that our room was on the ocean facing side, I noticed there was another section of Bliss across the road which probably didn't have as good a view.

The hotel is like a boutique hotel with small and unique touches. But it needs some more attention to basics from the management. The room we were given was huge, it had 3 bedrooms, but there was only 1 towel and no bathmat.

The service from the person at the reception and at the restaurant was good and they were very friendly. But it looked like there were a bit short staffed.

Firstly I found Seychelles to be beautiful but over-all abit too expensive. Ive been to maldives aswell and its just as beautiful if not more and is more economical than seychelles and so a better option I guess for a relaxed beautiful holiday. I stayed at bliss from 28/09/13 to 03/10/13 (5 nights) and had booked the waves suite. I loved my stay and our room was great, the ocean was literally like 3 metres from our room and the sound of the waves were strong and soothing even while we were asleep. We loved our stay. The only draw-backs we faced was the un-professionalism of the staff. The staff were good but they need to be trained more; as an example... we were in the 3rd night of our stay and the lights of our room went off and for 2 hours we were in the dark and the management didn't know what to do... they had a very clumsy attitude towards the situation... thanks God it was sorted out then in the end. Then once on the 4th night (we were half-board) we went into the restaurant for our dinner and it literally took us 2 hours to be served: the excuse the staff gave was lame and both the staff (pamela and juliette) gave different /in-consistent reasons as-to why the delay occurred and hence the unprofessional attitude. None-the-less we enjoyed our stay at Bliss and had a refreshing time :)

Room Tip: the executive ocean front suites are the best rooms and its wise to go for em...

We started our HoneyMoon with a one-night stay at the Bliss Hotel in Mahe and loved every minute of it! We were sad not to stay longer at this lovely hotel.

The rooms are cosy, very nicely decorated with local woods and seashells, and have breathtaking views over the ocean - so romantic at sunset!!

The bar & restaurant options are all very nice, food is good and service EXTREMELY kind... everyone had a huge smile and was genuinely happy to help out!
After talking to several of the staff it seems that the management just changed....we don't know how it was before, but the new managers are definitely doing a great job!

Shall we go back to the Seychelles we will definitely make sure we stay at least 2 nights at this beautiful hotel on the beach!

Room Tip: Some rooms have direct access to the beach!

The location of the hotel is fantastic, the Indian Ocean is beneath your feet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

On the other hand, the cleanliness of the hotel was poor, during our stay we noticed some stains on bed linens, on curtains which were not that important to us but on the other hand there was also some bug problem (clearly speaking cockroaches) in our room which really bothered us. Besides most of the beach furniture is very old and subject to renovation.

Room Tip: A room w/ ocean view is a must.

Bliss H, Manager at Bliss Hotel Seychelles, responded to this reviewResponded 29 September 2013

First of all, we would like to thank you for your stay with us and for your review. It is very helpful indeed as we are constantly re evaluating ourselves in order to improve everyday.

Kindly accept our apologies for not having offered you the best service during your stay. Normally a housekeeping supervisor is dedicated to check the cleanliness of the rooms. As it was apparently not sufficient, we decide from now on, that the manager on duty will double check the rooms to be 100% sure of the fastidiously cleanliness of the room before welcoming a new guest in our hotel.

As per the quality of our furniture, I would be happy to have the opportunity to make this up to you so feel free to contact me.

Warm regards,

Juliette Zurstrassen,
Manager

I guess $350 per night is considered a low budget hotel in the Seychelles?? Other than being right on the water, this place was a huge disappointment and creepy. The linens were stained as well as the robes provided. The phone and other items were covered in dust and a vase and coffee pot contained water that appeared not to have been changed in weeks. The room smelled of mold. The electricity was off all day on our first day, then the water was off for hours two different times during our 3-day stay. To top it off, we were greeted by a 2-inch cockroach our first night, which freaked us out so much that we slept with the lights on the next 2 nights. Finally, the front door to the building where our room was located opens out to the street and remains open all night. There is no bolt lock on your room's door. They told us that there was security, but we saw no one. This place needs new management period!

Overall we were really disappointed by this expensive "four-star hotel". We booked a particular room for two nights but when we arrived that room was not ready and the manager gave us silly excuses. After a big fuss, we could move in to our room the next day. The staff were not interested in helping at all, the service was really poor and the receptionists clearly did not like her job and seemed very bothered by guests. We ordered breakfast to our room which only arrived after two reminders. They picked up the dishes in the evening after they were asked to clean our room. Towels and used glasses were not changed, the room was not cleaned in the morning. The breakfast buffet was minimal.
We only went for the weekend and this hotel spoiled out trip.
