The Arabella Hotel is an amazing property located near Hermanus and the wine country in South Africa. Although this property is a little out of the way, it is so beautiful and has a great deal to offer for a couple days away. There is a good golf course, for those enthusiasts. It has a lovely spa, and a casual and nice restaurant on site. The rooms are spacious and the entire property is kept up so beautifully. The staff very warm and helpful. Definitely a relaxing place to get away.

This was my third visit to the hotel, once again for a conference. The setting is the single best feature, with views out towards the lagoon, although there is no beach to speak of. It also has a golf course for those that are that way inclined. I'm not, but it makes for wonderful early runs on the fairways before the golfers get underway.

Check in was efficient, but with the slight hiccup of my key card not working and having to make the walk back to reception to have the problem rectified. I had a view nice towards the pool, but not too close to it and with foliage screening it. Views towards the lagoon are however far superior. The room was clean and modern. The staff very helpfully supplied me with toothpaste, having forgotten my own. Spas are not really my thing, so didn't make use of it and thus can't comment on this aspect.

Buffet breakfast was really good and service efficient and friendly. Check out was fast and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Request a lagoon facing room

Was at the Arabella for a conference and stayed 3 nights...my 3rd trip
Amazing facility and layout and a warm welcome....
The rooms were amazing, lake views and stunning scenery...the bathroom also opened to the balcony so you could see the wonderful views...

The food was good (as usual) with a wide variety especially the braai night.
Service was pretty good with everyone happy to help.
The pools were gorgeous and not congested at all...

The Spa was a bit of a disappointment...some of the treatments required self application!!!

I would certainly come back but I wouldnt do the spa again...

Room Tip: lake facing rooms on a high floor

We stayed for 2 nights at Arabella Hotel and Spa for my wife's 30th birthday. We stayed in a room with a golf course and lagoon view, stunning scenery! The room is spacious and very clean. We enjoyed the spa the most, massages is amazing and the hot swimming pool is a nice place to relax and unwind. The restaurant has amazing food and breakfast that is included has a wide variety. Please note that it is not cheap to eat and drink at Arabella, so be warned. The only bad part of our stay at Arabella was that the main highway is just across the lagoon and you can hear the cars when outside your balcony. I think the more cheaper rooms will be more quite, that rooms will have a view of the main swimming pool. Hermanus also very nice town to visit and enjoy!

Room Tip: Save some money and go for the swimming pool view rooms

The last time I went to the Arabella Spa was in 2005, since then the service standards have declined. We were a party of 3 and each one of us had a different experience with our therapists, two were outstanding and one was a total nightmare! The spa lacks the obvious facilities that one expects in facilities of this standard, no post therapy relaxation spaces (only the lounge area at reception) the nail bar is also not equipped with the basic equipment! Won't be returning anytime soon!
