The hotel overlooks the rift valley and Lake Manyara, the views are stunning and can be seen from the bar and pool.
Rooms are tired, haven't been updated in years and very noisy, walls are paper thin and many people are getting up prior to dawn for game viewing.
Staff are very unhelpful, every question seems to cause a problem, not motivated or interested in their guests.
The buffet dinner and breakfast was very average. We struggled to get a glass of non house wine even though it was on the menu

Room Tip: Try to get an end room so you have less noise, don't leave patio doors open the baboons will get in

Stayed here for one night when going for Safari at Lake Manyara NP. It's a nice quality hotel with beautiful setting on the rim of the Great Rift Valley mountain ridge and with a really nice view, garden and pool area.

The buffet-style dinner was mediocre, with some unfulfilled ambition from the chef's side.
Herdes of bad-mannered elderly chinese people didn't do anything to enhance the experience.

A place with beautiful gardens and an extremely depressing entry drive of poverty. This place is owned and run by the Tanzanian government and it shows. Old bureaucratic processes and procedures. No wifi. Waiters and front office personnel who act and look like low motivated government employees. The hotel also offered the WORST exchange rates to USD of any place we stayed on our 9 day safari.

The Wildlife Lodges are luxury places and should be reviewed as such. We were not disappointed. This Wildlife Lodge has been very well maintained for almost fifty years. History is in the walls of this place. Nice dinner and breakfast with a wide variety of dishes and a very good lunch box (our best on our week long safari circuit). Polite and nice staff. Spectacular bar – as cut out from "Out of Africa"!
Rooms were a bit small, and noise was easily heard across rooms. But it does not matter much as everybody around the safari cut goes early to bed!
Note: The local dirt road leading in from the highway is dusty and bumpy. One should not think that it leads to a luxury lodge – but it sure does!
The place enjoys a fantastic view of the lake Manyara National Park, although the decent to the park is a short half our back out on and down the main highway.
Note: On the way in or out to the hotel take notice that the shabby-looking souvenirshops just off the highway offer reasonable souvenirs at lower prices than most places.

Room Tip: We stayed in old section. Potentially larger room in newer sections. Ask!

If your looking for an amazingly nice place to stay, with a friendly staff, near Lake Manyara and reasonably priced, than Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge is the place.
Consider the elegant wooden architecture the structure is built with as bonus.

I stayed at Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Seronera and Lobo from the
Hotels And Lodges properties, and I am giving all 4 places a 5 star rating for the superb service, quality and value.
