We stayed 2 nights, booked directly through website.
Bed was the most comfortable along our 8-day safari, and we had a very warm double duvet - essential when you wake up to a temperature of just above +5C. Shower was good and hot, although manual, i.e. you order shower for a specific time, but this is common at all tented camps.
Good lunch boxes - best we had at any of 4 camps we stayed in.
The camp is at the Nyati campsite, a bush just outside the crater rim, 20 mins drive from the entrance. The campsite is wild - we had buffalos and elephants on the territory both nights! It was amazing to listen and to watch through the zipped tent's net how they were grazing just a few meters from the tent. The camp's staff are cautious and protecting the guests. One of the guys, Mimosa, was trying very hard to make our stay comfortable.
We also drove to see the Empakai Crater - what a great view! And very quiet, no tourists, just a handful of Masai. It's just about 2h drive from Ngorongoro.
We enjoyed staying at Kirurumu very much!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Kirurumu Ngorongoro camp is a luxury mobile camp set in one of the most strategic and beautiful areas in the Ngorongoro Highlands overlooking the Ngorongoro Conservancy, the Great Rift Valley escarpment, and Lake Eyasi. As a small and intimate camp the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent. ... more less
