“Best location in Lake Manyara!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2013

Lodge is incredible! At the far end of the Park, it is the only resort within it, so you have the place to yourself after the Park closes. The tree houses are beautiful--outdoor showers to view the scenery (including monkeys and elephants), deep soaking tubs, 180 degree wraparound porches to sit on and enjoy the outside as well as beautifully appointed rooms. The food is fantastic, the service is unparalleled and the &Beyond vehicles and, mostly importantly, guides are the best. We began our safari here and it was "beyond" anything that we had hoped for or imagined. We got outdoor massages on our porch which were fantastic. As a special treat, the Manager brought in local dancers and acrobats to entertain us one evening. The next day, there was a separate program by the children of the local village in which they danced and sang. It was a special experience and one that we all will remember always! You will love this place!

The very unusual tree houses with just nets instead of windows and walls - so you sleep and listen all animals, insects and birds around)) Good bar, food and exeptional safaries - we saw a lot of animals, elephants, girafes, monkeys, birds

This is an excellent lodge. The service is wonderful, the rooms are huge and the food is great. THere are night drives that are well run (the guides here are great) as well as the possibility to walk/bike in a nearby town and on Lake Manyara. THe lodge is in a secluded area in the south of the park so few people are seen -- the North of the park is a lot busier. The downside though is that it is a good 1.5 hour-2 hour drive to get to the lodge so you need to stay for 2 nights to make it worthwhile. Another downside is that there are not sunrise or sunset views (you can take a car at 6 am to watch sunrise at the lake though). There is a decent swimming pool (big enough to do laps). Elephants pass frequently through the camp so one needs to be careful walking around.

This was one of the real highlights of our African safari, partly because of the wildlife, but equally because of the great Tanzanian people involved with this lodge. We would recommend taking the optional bike tour, to see a different side of the standard safari experience. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well worth it.

Perfect start to a safari - a bit of everything; landscape topography; animals, etc...

The lodge itself was excellent - very high quality. Great drivers; great food; great service.

It's greatest advantage - location - we had half of Lake Manyara all to ourselves - and that made it worth every cent.

No lions in the trees - but lots on the ground..

I can't give this place enough stars. I thought I knew what luxury was, until I traveled with andBeyond. Lake Manyara itself is an interesting locale, a long national park that abuts a "lake" that fills up with water during rainy season, but has no outlet and turns into a mostly dry soda bed in the dry season. The fact that the park is so narrow means that as you drive along it you are bound to see a ton of wildlife moving around near the road. We unfortunately missed the leopards, but saw a pride of 9 lions lazing about.

The property itself is one of the best parts of the trip. You stay in a tree house on stilts, listening to the sounds of the forest. At night we were awoken by an angry herd of elephants trumpeting and growling as they passed right by our tree house. Magical.

The staff and service are perfect, catering to your every need. At times you definitely can feel over-pampered.

Don't miss the trip to Mayoka village to see the clinic and school that andBeyond supports. All in all, a perfect trip.

This was our favourite out of the three &Beyond properties we stayed at while in Tanzania. The small and intimate atmosphere was fantastic. The rooms were huge and beautifully designed with a roll top bath (which was filled post our game drive and left for us with a complimentary bottle of champagne!) and a scenic outside shower.
The food was fresh and tasty and cooked specially for us. The game and particularly the birds in the Lake Manyara national park were out of this world. A really memorable stay.
