Loved the staff! They were so friendly. I could not believe we were in tents and appreciated the hot water and the lovely white washed walls.

Great views and amazing rooms but twin beds? Mmm, not in love with that.

Staff onsite to do mini walking tours.

Bar had a spectacular view.

The staff here were the friendliest and nicest that I had all trip. At dinner, they went out of their way to be helpful and nice to us, and would teach us Swahili while bringing us our food. Bar was quite cheep, which is always good, and the view there was amazing. Rooms were pretty basic, but good for a tented lodge.

The view from the tents and the bar is stunning, the staff were friendly and the permanent tents nice, however there was loud thumping music coming up the valley that kept us awake and spoilt an otherwise prime location.

Safari Infinity brought us here in September 2013. Spacious tents with nice facilities, and we really enjoyed the lounge area with its fantastic view. Our shower had a BIG step downward, so if you are sight-impaired in any way or just not paying attention, you could have a really nasty fall. The fire was a very nice touch, although we were the only ones sitting by it--a fire is just so much a part of African nights! Excellent staff and we had no complaints whatsoever about the food.

The tents feel very far away from the lounge and dining facilities. This could be a pro or a con depending on how much you need to stretch your legs. We loved it after being cooped up in a truck, and marched back and forth a few times just for fun.

Stayed here for two nights during our tour of Tanzania. We had a fab twin level tent / structure built
into the rock face with a wonderful view over Lake Manyara. Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs.Great bar area again with fab views over the Rift Valley.Restaurant area was very attractive with good service and very nice food which was well presented. No buffet instead a choice of various dishes of the menu.Service once again was excellent.Very nice breakfast the usual cold buffet choices with the opportunity for a cooked choice if required. All in all a very pleasant place to stay with a nice relaxed ambiance.

We wanted to experience a tented camp as part of our safari trip. Manyara was one place which was affordable. I personally like the tented camp. Our tent had a very great view of Manyara lake. During the night and early morning we could hear the sound of the wind, birds chirping and feel all the fresh air. It was a great experience. I wish we had a similar one in the bushes. There are no animals around the tent. So its safe but again it depends on how you see it. Had there been animals it would have added an adventure factor to the stay.

Some people might compare the price of the tented camp to the Serena lodge and might argue that Serena provides much more facilities for the same price (or may be cheaper). If you keep the price aside and if you are a nature person you will love this.

Beware of the food. It's the only place during our entire safari trip which didn't serve a buffet. They mentioned it was ala carte but all they had was a menu from which you choose between 2 options. The portion size was small. We reached there in the afternoon and were'nt happy with the lunch and left the restaurant hungry. So we requested if we can pasta with veggies for dinner. They accommodated our request so we had a decent dinner.

Overall staying in a tented camp was a good experience.

Thank you for your wonderful review of Kirurumu Manyara Lodge and we were so pleased you enjoyed your stay.

We so agree with you why come all this way to East Africa on safari and not try out a traditional but comfortable under canvas experience? Its how safaris were invented and how we are supposed to experience the sights and sounds of the African bush.

We try and stay away from buffets as here in Africa they so often are the cause of dreaded tummy upsets. So we stick to ala carte dining instead which is far safer and also means less wastage, an important factor here in Africa. We have also just had the help of a professional chef from Southern Africa staying for a week to help teach some excellent new culinary tricks to our cooks and to improve their menus on healthy eating, vegetarian, and gluten free options.
