Lake Manyara Serena Lodge
Certificate of Excellence

Set on the edge of the rift over looking the lake the view is breathtaking. The lodge itself is made up of small round buildings with thatch roofs. Each building has an upper and lower guest room. Our room was very clean and quiet and had a spectacular view from the balcony. The paths leading to the rooms meandered through trees and well kept lawns. Beautiful and quiet. The main lodge had a lot of character in its shape and building materials. Very comfortable seating for meals overlooking the lake enhanced the quiet mood and delicious food. One morning the chef had made a ginger/mint/lemon juice that was delicious. All of the staff were exceedingly polite and helpful.

What a pity we only stayed one night here. We would have loved a swim in the inviting infinity pool but time didn't allow it. We did have a bush breakfast though when we were taken to a secluded area overlooking the lake where our breakfast was beautifully laid out for us. Our room was well appointed with all that we required. The staff were courteous and efficient.

One night stay plus breakfast, lunch and dinner in this pleasant hotel set on the hill over looking Lake Manyara.
Rooms were a good size, with double bed and single in each.
Good choice of food and service.
Infinity pool was a highlight with wonderful views of Lake Manyara park.
Recommended if visiting Lake Manyara, which is well worth a visit, as we saw sleeping tree lions x 6, plus were surrounded by a herd of elephants in the 3 hour visit.

The reviews I had read online before going had me a tad sceptical. Upon arrival I loved the property. Lovely rooms...large! Gorgeous view. Being vegetarians we were very pleasantly surprised by the choices offered. All in all we were very happy with our sadly brief stay at this property. More lighting along the paths and especially on the stairs leading up to the first floor rooms would really help....its an accident waiting to happen.

We thoroughly enjoyed the view from the rooms. The dinner only had a salad buffet and a single choice of main dish and desert. Nothing great. The rooms were cottage hut style and a bit basic for the price. The entertainment program had an amazing acrobatics program though. The infinity pool was beautiful; however we did not use it. The breakfast buffet was ok. However the lunchboxes were better than other Serenas. We didn’t see many animals in the national park- no lions at all. If given a choice, we would skip Lake Manyara altogether.

Its a beautiful lodge with a lovely view from the rooms as well as the swimming pool. The food was great and the restaurant dining service was also great. Front desk receptionist was really sweet and helpful n ever smiling .(Prisca) I wouldnt forget her name. They had arranged local acrobatics from d closeby village by the poolside which was entertaining. I loved the over all stay..They had the most sumptuous lunch box packed for our safari.

Don't understand the other mediocre reviews...ours would be substantially higher. Service and staff attendance was quite high if not in the league with African Tulip and others; rooms were top notch; common areas (dining, sitting, bar area, etc.) were all outstanding; the pool and pool house areas (we didn't use the pool but it was fantastic nevertheless) were terrific. Food was excellent. What's not to like? We would have been happy to spend more time here.
