“Something different”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2014

Not only restaurant for local dishes but an inside look to a local life also. Restaurant itself is actually just a balcony of a family house. You don't get to choose your dishes from a menu but you get whatever is put in front of you - a perfect way to get to know the local food. The food itself was delicious and plenty: after 4 appetizers we were almost too full for main course.. Highly recommended experience.

“You've never had a meal like this before.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

How would you like it if, when you visited a new, distant and exciting place, you were invited in to the home of a local resident who also happened to be a gastronomic whiz? This is what you get with Two Tables. The proprietor does indeed have two (large) tables, situated in a dinning area off of his family's main room. It's as intimate as it gets - you're practically part of the family. But the food is anything but familiar. It is a multi-course journey through the Indian-influenced cuisine of Zanzibar. And it is delicious. Highly recommended.

“Eat in their front room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

Second visit to this restaurant, both experiences have been the same. You come here to eat in the family home, limited choice of what of eat. You just sit down on the 2 tables with everyone else and then eat what is put in front of you. The place is a little rustic, you are in someone's house and this is a unique dinning experience.

“A unique dinning experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

Set in a home of a local family the Two Tables resturant is literally two tables on the back side of a local family house. With seemingly never ending food coming out come hungry to this meal. I went with some local friends for a going away and it did not disappoint. To top off the meal the daughters of the owner came out and sang us a song of thanks. Great experience a bit off the beaten path in Stone Town.

“Dine like locals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

We chose this restaurant to experience good, local food. We were a bit surprised when we found out this family-run restaurant was actually in the family's home, but went with it. There are indeed just two tables out on a small room attached to the family room. We were the only diners there. The family were all there watching television throughout the meal, but are perfectly pleasant and do not interrupt your meal. Course after course was brought out, and we found it to be piping hot and delicious. You can hear the owner and his wife cooking away at the next course while you eat. Be forewarned you will start to fill up long before the main course, so save room. They do not serve alcohol but I believe you can bring your own. The owner is very friendly and takes pride in his food. It was a little strange to eat in someone's house but it will certainly be memorable even years from now. We enjoyed the local experience and went home with (very!) full bellies. We would return.
