After seeing Monsoons being highly recommended in several guidebooks and at well known hotels we stopped in for a lunch on the terrace. Granted it seems to be popular for an evening meal with live Taarab music for an "authentic Swahili experience". With all other restaurants we tried in ST we had fantastic fresh seafood and great service. The waiter was more interested in chatting to his friends passing by and took forever to serve us. We live in Africa so are not expecting Western standards, but having only two other customers in the restaurant we would expect to have drinks and food delivered together. The Calamari was a joke - a couple of tough, dried rubber strips on the plate with salad leaves. I shared my small portion of tiny prawns with my partner as we didn't have time to re order or send it back. Seems to be a hit and miss place.
There are plenty of other fantastic options.
