I ordered a margharita pizza, and I thoroughly enjoyed it - the base was thin and crispy and it had lots of cheese on it. My fiance ordered a pasta which he also said was good.
The service was good and the food came quickly.

Just one tip - the tables are outside which is lovely, but I noticed that there were LOTS of mosquitos (far more so than at any of the other restaurants we ate at). The staff light mosquito coils which was great, but I would recommend that you spray yourself with insect repellant before going out to dinner here.

I highly recommend this place. Of the many many places we ate out at over the 2 weeks we were in Zanzibar, this was one of the best.

I eat here at least once weekly, with friends and family. The pizzas and pastas are divine and a good selection of meat/ seafood dishes and specials. The service is fast and friendly, drinks reasonably priced. Location easily accessible plenty of parking space. The staff and owners are always warm and welcoming..What's not to love?

We had been travelling for two weeks and were craving something different. We were not disappointed when we went for lunch. The food, ambience and staff are excellent. I would recommend to anyone.

We could not face fish and chicken anymore and looked for something else, well well well, we found it!
The pizzaz were from the best, could not found such at home! Italian at the best, thin based, well filled pizzaz. We enjoyed this, and will do it again!

We went to La Taverna once during our 6 week trip in Stone town hoping for some great Italian food, but were very disappointed. The first thing we noticed was the atmosphere. The place is full of expats, and that is about it. If you're looking any kind of Zanzibari feel or character, this place isn't it. It is even walled off from the rest of the road so feels very much separate from the rest of Stone Town. We had a the pasta with bolognese, and felt pretty ill after. It was very dry and the sauce was pretty thin, and we had great difficulty finishing the meal. Didn't manage to try the pizza but apparently they are better. Overall we reckon there are other much better options in Stone Town if you fancy Italian food, we didn't come all the way to try and relive a typical European restaurant experience with no local influence.

I'm sorry if your experience was not enjoyable, but La Taverna is not a fusion Restaurant, is a real Italian Restaurant with Italian influence only. Our proud is that La Taverna is attended by a lot of expats and this is our best guarantee to be in the right way, with a good & healty Italian cuisine by the finest ingredient. Anyway thank you for coming and wellcome again @ La Taverna Italian Restaurant Café & Pizzeria. The Management.
