“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

This is a wonderful hotel, don't be fooled by the one-star status, it's as nice as any place I've stayed in.
It's respectably located, everything in Stone town is pretty much five minutes apart.
The hotel has a great terrace, and this makes tea in the mornings and late afternoon's very pleasing.
The breakfast isn't much to write about, below-average I'd say.

The rooms are spotless, and the service is spot on.

Room Tip: Try getting the suite on the top floor, it's massive!

My partner and I stayed at kisiwa house for 2 days. I would highly recommend this hotel, great location. It is 5 minutes to everywhere! There are a few restaurants near the hotel, that were very convenient trying out different Zanzibar delicacies. We stayed in Malkia Junior Suite which had a lovely spacious bathroom. Plus the staff were very friendly and helpful :). We plan on going back to Zanzibar soon and we will definitely stay here again..........

Very nice hotel with lots of character in a perfect location in Stonetown.
Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. It is noisy but you have to expect that in the heart of Stonetown.
Sadly, the service was a let down.
We asked reception to book us a table at Emerson Spice and were told that it was closed and encouraged to eat at the hotel restaurant. When we called ourselves we were able to book a table with no difficulty.
The air conditioning in our room didn't work. When I pointed this out to the duty manager, he said that nothing could be done and we couldn't change rooms. This made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep and therefore let the hotel down badly. The TV remote didn't work either. The fact that neither of these things were checked before we checked-in is sloppy management.

We stayed here for two nights. The rooms don't have much of a view ( at least ours on the second floor didnt) but it was a small price to pay for the cleanest washroom we've had since Canada. The room was clean and bright with an emphasis on making it as comfortable as possible.

At night it was a little noisy outside but the din quieted around 9pm. We ate at the on-site restaurant and were pleased with the food although the price was a little high compared to local places. The rooftop setting was nice.

Oh, WiFi reaches all the rooms as they have a router on each floor. AWESOME!

Stayed for two nights en route from Arusha to Dar. A charming and quiet hideaway in the busy bustle of the Stone Town alleyways. Former merchant house of high ceilings, spacious sitting areas, swishing palms, and Arabic wood carvings.
A little bit pricy for what you get perhaps, but a lovely sanctuary nonetheless. Don't miss breakfast and dinner on the roof terrace.

What an amazing hotel! Welcomed by ice cold towels and fresh juice when we arrived - after a very hot and sticky journey.

Stayed here with a party of 6, taking 3 double rooms for 6 nights. Great location based in Stone Town, easily able to walk to restaurants and near the shops.

Rooms are spacious, clean and well decorated. Service was great, especially from the restaurant staff and management. Breakfast was varied a combinations of cake, doughnuts, fruit, fresh juice, eggs and sausages.

Added touches such as staff closing the windows to stop mosquitoes getting in. Also they sprayed Lemon grass to prevent mosquitoes coming in.

A very nice and secure place to stay in Stone Town. The best on the Island.

My husband and I plus our two kids (20 and 18) stayed for just one night at Kisiwa House. The hotel is tucked away in a little side street right in the centre of Stone Town - so perfect location. The hotel is on three floors and is beautifully decorated. The rooms are spacious (some more so than others) and spotlessly clean. The rooftop terrace is a great place to eat - we had a wonderful dinner and breakfast - with fantastic views out to the ocean.
The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful and it was a wonderful place to spend our last night in Zanzibar.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 (not the best) our kids in room 1 had much bigger room and better bathroom. 2nd...
