“Old Fort”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Keep your visit short aqnd sweet. The phot opps are limited to 3 photos at best and the local shop keepers does become a bit of a drag. Only ever pay in shillings and save yourself a pocket.

“Expected more”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

From the outside it looks impressive. When you come inside, you see signs about restaurants, shops and all other stuff that doesn't belong there. There is an old stone theatre that is worth to see aswell as the inner yard. Can be done in 10-15 minutes. There is no entrance fee so don't hesitate to go here.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

While touted as a must see in Zanzibar, I found there was little to actually see. It seems more a means to draw in tourists to then harass them to buy the various wares being peddled. I was craving a history of the fort and it's occupants, but instead had to fend off obnoxious merchants. Don't bother going in - the best part if the fort can be seen on the exterior.

“Nothing very special”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

Nothing very special about the fort, it's nicer from outside with the old wooden doors than the inside. It can be done along with the Palace museim and eit Al Ajaeb while footing around the lovely city
