“Heart of Hurumzi”
Reviewed 5 February 2013

Beautifully decorated venue using wooden furniture, mirrors and woven effects redolent of Zanzibar. Food was good too. Unfortunately it is non-alcoholic, so only soft drinks, which brings down the taste.

“Not Zanzibar's best”
Reviewed 29 January 2013

We were not there on a busy night but the service was terrible - this seems to be a shared view. We had to hunt the waiter down for menus, to order and to be served. We waited more than an hour for our meals which were just OK but certainly not great. Children's meals were terrible, beer was warm. It was even a struggle to find someone to pay our bill and then we had to go through this ridiculous exercise of 3 people checking it. The decor and style of the restaurant is nice, so my advice would be go for a look, but don't eat there.

“Terrible and cold food”
Reviewed 16 January 2013

We went there to eat. We asked if they had a top terrace. They put a table in the little roof terrace. It was full of other furniture. The place is beautiful, but the food was no good cold and very expensive for stone town. 40 dollar each!!!
I think they went to get the food somewhere els.

“Avoid at all COSTS!!! Literally!”
Reviewed 28 December 2012 via mobile

The food was fresh, or at least would be, were it not for the forty five minute wait; this after a generous wait for vile coffee!!

The food portion was minuscule but the ingredients obviously fresh.

Wait staff had to be literally chased through the restaurant and a fellow diner heard castigating after an hour wait to order.

The MAJOR issue came when the bill came to be paid. The menu, obviously written in local shillings, he decided was really American and tried to charge double. As a local East African resident - lets just say we paid shillings and left displeased!!

I'd avoide this is you want a generous relaxing meal; but if you are after diner that feels like doing a round with Mahammed Ali then this is your place.
