I had originally booked at a sister hotel in town which after i arrived was told they over booked the hotel and would send me to this brand new hotel (had been open just 1 week when i checked in). At first i was very unhappy about the lack of room but in good faith went across to see Foorodani Park Hotel. The location is great, right next to the fort but that presents its own problems being that it can be very very noisy there and if there is an event on at the fort (as happened on our first night), forget about sleep. however, that is not really the fault of the hotel. Being newly opened the property was very clean and tidy.
Now its important to judge a place on what it is trying to be. Foorodani Park Hotel is about a 2 star class hotel and for what it is, I think they succeeded with getting the basics right. The room I stayed in was quite large though not allot of furniture however there is a mini bar fridge, a working A/C, clean linen and enough clean towels. Perhaps a few more cushions on the bed would be helpful. A large mosquito net hangs over the bed and was clean and in good condition. There was a small balcony over looking the car park and the old fort. The bathroom had a large Hammam style shower and enough space to put ones toiletries.
The hotel itself is quite small (about 19 rooms or so if i recall) with a small roof top cafe with some views of the town. they were still busy installing a small plunge pool on the roof top which i think will go along way to help improve on the hotel facilities. A handful of tables and chairs are set up on the roof top where light meals and drinks can be enjoyed. i did not partake however as there are plenty of other food and beverage options around town to choose from.
(A better than expected breakfast) is served down stairs in the lobby though they need to keep an eye on the attention to details on this aspect of their service. Breakfast is simple but provides what one needs to get the day going. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
Overall, for what the property is, I though it was not too bad and you get more or less what you pay for. I would be willing to try this property again.
