Arrived at the ZPH and had a very pleasant lunch shortly after our arrival. We found all the staff very attentive and helpful and who were able to put us in touch with a local guide who walked us round the places of interest ie market, slave chamber, house of wonders etc and also gave us a short history of Zanzibar.
We stayed in the 'Farizah' room which was tastefully decorated in the old colonial style and would have liked to have stayed longer but were tied to our flight times. We would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: As the Farizah room, which was on the 'reception' side of the building, was the only one we...

We stayed at Zanzibar Palace Hotel for two days in the Dunia suite. The bathroom has a fantastic view over Stone Town and gives you the luxury experience of bathing and showering in the open air. Beds are huge and comfortable. Nothing is too much asked for, staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel looks well maintained and extremely clean. The manager Robert and his assistant Mark really have things under control and are always happy to help out. Lovely and relaxed atmoshpere!

Room Tip: In dry season the Dunia suite is the best with the open rooftop bathroom with private sundeck!

We were lucky as decided to stay 3 nights in Stonetown, so had time to fully enjoy the Farizah Suite and this hotel in general. The staff never stop smiling and were always interested in you - they greatly add to its charm. To the gentle water feature in reception to the very comfortable bed we recommend it. The Swahili meal was amazing and one of our best meals on the island. Close to everything we could not have asked for better.

Room Tip: The stairs are not as bad as some reviews make out. And as they carry the cases - no problem.

Yes, yes, yes, stay here. Staying in Stonetown at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel was most enjoyable because the ambiance of Zanzibar was beautifully reflected in our uniquely decorated room. We had the greatest surprise of our trip when we entered the Dunia suite . . . a huge, elevated, curtain-draped bed sits within the extra-large room appointed with unique artifacts of this African Island. And then there is the lovely blue-tiled bathroom found one floor above with views and sounds of the port city in an open-air environment! That bathroom was definately one of the highlights of our trip! The staff are super friendly and helpful, and were of great assistance in getting our airline boarding info ready. The made-to-order breakfast with delicious fruit juice was way beyond par, with the hot and fresh croissants and coffee.

My daughter and I had a one night stay at the Zanzibar Palace on the way home after a diving trip as an antidote to the trials and tribulations of diving as well as giving us an opportunity to see Stonetown itself. The first thing to say is that if you wish to see Stonetown and get the feel of the place, the Zanzibar Palace is the ideal place to stay, as the hotel itself and it's location are a perfect introduction. The room we stayed in lived up to, and even exceeded the level of luxury I expected, but it was the staff that I most want to praise. Both the service provided by Robert and Mark as well as the other staff, were exactly what was required in a small, intimate boutique hotel like this and I for one would stay again...

We only stayed one night in the hotel, but it was so good! We loved the it, the room was beautiful and the bathroom was great! It was a great welcome, very friendly! They gave us a good advice before visiting the city! The hotel was in the middle of the city, in few minutes you were at the market and the shopping areas. The breakfast was very good. we hope to come another time and spend some more time!! This hotel was a wonderfull end of our vacation. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

It is a small hotel with only 9 rooms, tucked away on a side street but only minutes from the main areas. Our room (Nadia) was on the first floor and added to the ambiance of the island. This room seems to be a bit smaller than the others, but was just fine for us. The website shows pictures of each room, so you could look on there if you wanted to pick a room. It was decorated with fresh flowers upon arrival. Robert, Mark and the rest of the staff were very helpful. They were also quite honest about which sights they recommend a guide for, and which we could do on our own, which was appreciated. We decided to go to Prison Island and see the giant tortoises last minute, and they had someone available to take us within 10 minutes. Also, we had to leave quite early the next morning before the kitchen opened, and they had a boxed breakfast waiting for us when we left. We had a wonderful time here and would definitely return.
