“Absolutely Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

This was an absolutely beautiful hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again. My friend and I had the Nadia suite. It was perfect. Two of our other friends stayed in the Dunia suite. Both rooms were different but equally charming and beautiful. The staff was helpful and friendly. It's a perfect location in Stone Town - easy to walk everywhere. With all the twist and turns of the city, we did get lost the first day or two but we did get it eventually. I want to go back to Zanzibar just to stay at this hotel.

We stayed here in one of the suites - a gorgeous room, lovely decor that is full of character and a lovely 4 poster bed. What really sells it though is the bathroom and sun deck - there are stairs up from the bedroom to a semi-open air bathroom which looks out over the roof tops of the town, and then up from the bathroom is a sun deck, where you can sit and have a drink and watch the sun go down. Fantastic!
The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful and the service is excellent - they really encourage you to order drinks on room service, which is great especially as the room is up several flights of stairs! There is a good restaurant area as well.
Definitely recommend staying here.

I don't remember how I found ZPH online but was so glad I didn't go with another recommendation because this was exactly what we needed: a well appointed room (The Honeymoon Suite, though not on honeymoon), excellent service (Frans and Milou so calm; their staff so friendly and helpful; great tours (Spice Farm tour highly recommended); yummy meals (Amina's shrimp and king fish are not to be missed)...everything needed to supplement the Zanzi experience.

Met at the airport and given a mini tour on the route at 2 am with a delish avo and passion fruit beverage and cool refreshing towels to welcome us. So many reasons to go back and see more from this well located building in the heart of Stone Town (just wandering through the streets there is an absolute treat).

...and I still can't get over the showers on the roof, watching the Indian Ocean; the zen feeling of being on the upper deck watching the night sky and hearing the calls to prayer echoing around. Go to Zanzibar, stay at Zanzibar Palace Hotel. You'll absolutely love it.

Wonderful place to stay. Very exotic building and rooms. Very clean and comfortable. Staff is super helpful and very friendly. Restaurant is good. Had problems with a taxi not showing up for a 03h30 departure for an early flight and the hotel folks made it happen. Can't say enough good things about this place. Stayed here after climbing Kilimanjaro and then relaxing on the east coast beaches of Zanzibar. This was the perfect end to a great trip

Had a wonderful stay in the Zanzibar Palace Hotel. I was treating myself after having climbed Kilimanjaro. The room was gorgeous, the spa was very relaxing, the managers Robert and Milieu couldn't have been more helpful. A friend joined me for my last night there and they very kindly upgraded us to a suite! Coffee was good and the breakfast was very tasty. Would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is perfectly located in Stone Town within easy walking distance of most attractions.

Check was welcoming and efficient (there was a delicious free drink whilst we waited for our room). Our room was very clean and comfortable with a rather ornate tiled shower.

Breakfast was plentiful with lots to select. Coffee was delicious!

Room Tip: Don't forget to get to the room terrace for the views over Stone Town Please try the traditiona...

I was travelling overland through Africa arriving in Stone Town after a month on the road through the desert. I was in search of a day spa so I could take a body scrub and refresh for the month ahead. I walked past the Zanzibar Palace Hotel a few times. On one occasion I thought why not just walk through the big timber doors to see what they have. And, what a find! I booked into their day spa for later that evening to be followed by dinner. The body scrub was to die for! I have never had a body scrub like that before. Not only did I feel clean and refreshed, I felt re-energised.

I relaxed by having a quiet drink in their bar before dinner. The service was excellent. The food was enjoyable. This hotel really is an oasis in the middle of Stone Town. If ever I was to go back I would want to stay here.

If you do stay at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel, make sure you use the day spa!
