We stayed in the Espresso room, which was nicely furnished, had everything we needed (including a locker and AC), but was definitely not as nice as it is in the pictures on their website. The rooms were quite clean, but also a bit dusty and not as cosy.
The Espresso room has the bathroom outside, but you get a key to the bathroom as well, so no one else can use it. The bathroom was also quite clean although the shower was pretty old and water presure bad.
Service can be improved, the staff was not very friendly and helpful and gave us a very laid back impression...actually the coldest attitude we experienced in Tanzania.
The location is fine, at the end of the main shopping street. It was alright to walk there at night as well, although if you spend the evening at Forodani Gardens you will have to take a taxi back and ask the driver to take you to the door (which is cheap and no problem).
The lodge has no restaurant, but a nice roof-top terasse for breakfast and a great coffee place downstairs. There are dinner options with good food very close by, ex. House of Spices (recommendable), Emerson Spice or Swahili House.More
