Perfect View, perfect location, perfect service. Two breathtaking nights middle in the wildlife. The entire crew is very friendly. The Southafrican GM helps as well. I didn´t aspect such a high standard in the center of a jungle.

Room Tip: Take the rooms with the view to the lake

Great choice and perfect location. Not the lowest rates but if you visit the National Park this is the best choice. Great view from the Hotel and a very good food in the restaurant. I give the best recommendations for this Hotel

We were 3 couples travelling around Uganda and stayed 2 nights at Mweya Lodge in Queen-Elizabeth Nationalpark. What an amazing place with such a great view and the wild animals directly around. We stayed in the luxerious tents which didn't leave any wish open. The bed was big, in the evening staff switched on the light and opened up the bed. From the balcony you were able to observe elephants, buffalos, hippos drinking on the river across. The food was excellent and the pool with a great view too. We really enjoyed to stay there and would like to come back in the future. This place you really have to try!!!!!

One of the best lodges we visited during our Uganda trip.
The lodge is situated on a peninsula, overlooking the lake and the nearby channel.
The rooms are very comfortable and were mosquito-free.
We also had a look into the "tents" and they are amazing: big, luxurious with a unique lake view, right from your bed.
The food was great: the first night we had a barbecue, the next one it was a pasta buffet (prepared at your choice).
The boat trip on the channel was a great experience: lots of birds and wildlife.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in September 2013. We stayed here as part of an 8 day package booked through Churchill Safaris.
If i'm going to be hyper critical, the decor is a touch dated, it's a bit off-putting having bats and yellow Robins fly around the dining area and the drinks are more expensive here than in other lodges. Now that's out the way I can tell you everything else is spot on. Rooms are lovely. Views incredible. Staff excellent. Food the best we had in Uganda. Just the whole feel of this place is comfortable/luxurious/African Safari.

Mweya has a special charm, determined in large part by the location. Straddling the top of a hill dividing two crater lakes, the view is mesmerizing. The birding is top-notch; be sure to collect one of the species pamphlet prepared by the lodge - over 600 birds are listed! If you can book a flight in rather than driving, check with the lodge manager - it was hands down the best flight I have ever taken in my life. GREAT pictures of wildlife on the river banks, our pilots were top notch!
We stayed in rooms close to the main lodge, 4 and 5 - which connect - our three children were in one room and we were in the other. The rooms are pretty standard, between the mosquito netting and the lady who sprays the rooms while you are at dinner, it's hard to find a mosquito in the room. There are plenty in the dining area, both on the patio and inside the main dining room. There are also bats, which I don't personally have a problem with, but some of our fellow travelers were disturbed to see bats hanging from the dining room rafters, becoming active right at dinner time and flying around the dining room. At the time of our stay (early October), a family of at least 30 mongoose bed down each night underneath the bathtub in room 5, which happened to be our children's room. Those little buggers chatter all night long. The kids were delighted, you could hear them scratching and scurrying and scuffling against the sides of the tub. It didn't really bother them at night. BUT, they DO stink, and I did wonder if they carried anything we should be concerned about. We all have survived thus far, going on two weeks post-Mweya. If they hadn't been swarming our front door every night, weaseling their way in and out of the wall, I wouldn't have thought twice. We got some great video. For me, this was part of the special charm. Waking up to a Waterbuck grazing next to your porch, having the manager warn you to stay in the room because lions are visiting the property, listening to the guards run off elephants at midnight - that's how you know you are on safari!!
Many of the staff members at Mweya are quite caring and dedicated to providing excellent service, but of all the places we visited in Kenya and Uganda over the last month, I felt that this lodge, being as large as it is, is struggling a bit. The property is also a little weathered. There were plumbing problems in some of the other rooms in our building (an unoccupied room was flooding, in another room bathwater was backing up and spilling out onto the walkway). That said, the manager was excellent, attended to our group needs and seemed to be eager to tend to lodge guests.
The food is good, there is a very wide variety of choices, the personalized pestos at the pasta station were DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the boat ride, our group of 12 took a private charter on the smaller pontoon boat, and it was one of my favorite moments of our month long safari.

Room Tip: You can see the porch of rooms 4 and 5 from the pool deck and the outdoor dining area, so if you are...

We completed a one night stay at this lodge on a two week trip to Uganda. It was recommended and it was excellent. We could not fault it the food was excellent and the service the best in Uganda. We went on their safari and boat trip both well worth it.

You are surrounded by wildlife in this location you cannot avoid being amazed.
