My wife and I stayed at the Swan after visiting a relative in Kings Lynn. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We were greeted by very friendly staff who escorted us to our room and offered to help with our bags. We were shown into our room which was a reasonable size and extremely clean with tea and coffee. The bedding was fresh and the bed extremely comfortable. We went for dinner and the food was served promptly and was delicious and plentiful. All the staff without exception were helpful and couldn't do enough for you without being interfering. The breakfast didn't disappoint either. I would recommend this hotel. The beer was kept well also and drinks reasonably priced. Great place Great staff.

We were recommended by a friend to go here and was not disappointed!
The food is of excellent quality, and their desserts are to die for. We enjoyed it so much that we normally call in here most Saturday nights, and have never had one bad meal.
A quick mention for all the staff, there is not one of them that fails to give you excellent service with along with a smile. If there is a wait, they tell you, and will do there utmost to fit you in. It's well worth the wait! We haven't stayed here yet, but have booked New Years night just so we can have a nice night without driving home, although we don't live far away, we know we will enjoy it with no worries.
Try it,you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Home cooked food at its best!

I ate here with nine friends. We booked a Saturday evening atmosphere was great, waitress was very helpful, taking all orders from the table. We all ordered different meals, which arrived together and to a very high standard. I had the cod loin with a mustard topping served with new potatoes and vegetables, I have to say it was absolutely lovely. All 10 of us had clean plates, would certainly eat here again.

We booked a family room for 3 nights while we explored the local area. We were warmly welcomed by Dave the manager who showed us the way up to our room (NO.1) on the first floor. The room is large with a en-suite bathroom (No shower just a low power hand held shower head for washing hair) the bath is also a bit on the small size, I'm 6ft tall and 17 stone (238lb) and found bathing very hard also the bathroom smells a bit from damp the extract fan wasn't working during our stay.
The room itself has all the usual fixtures and fittings you would expect, tea coffee making, TV although poor reception which could be fixed by installing an amplifier to the aerial. The beds where also a bit of a disappointment, our son's single bed squeaked alarming every time he moved and our bed a double has a very poor mattress and is quite small despite the size of the room which could easily accommodate a queen sized bed. The Swan Inn in situated on the Brandon Road which large lorries use as a short cut to the A11 and despite a 40 mph speed limit, pass the hotel at high speed in the early hours causing a lot of road noise and vibration in the room. Having detailed all this we still had a wonderful stay and hope these suggestions will be taken on board to improve a lovely place to stay. We used the restaurant every day for both breakfast and dinner, all the food served to us was of a very high quality and excellent value for money.

Room Tip: The modern barn conversion would be the place to stay

We stayed for 3 nights from Aug 09-Aug12. On arrival we were greeted by the ever smiling Ally and served a drink whilst we waited to be shown to our room. We stayed in the Lady Hamilton suite, which was clean and spacious and very comfortable. Nothing was to much trouble for the very friendly and hard working staff who made our stay so enjoyable. The food is fantastic and portions very large(highly recommend the slow roast pork). A big thankyou to all at The Swan.

Booked at last minute
Arrival
On arrival no idea where to check in so went to bar and asked to check. Was given piece of paper to fill in by balanced on some menus.
No welocme such as how was trip, have you stayed before. in fact not interested at all...... nothing only I will show you to your room and took me to the bottom of the stairs and pointed up saying room 4.

Room
Was very clean and bed very comfortable but small but hot as was hot day. Room was above the kitchen extractor fan which was very large and noisey and in the evening we may have as well been in the kitchen due to the smell.
You needed to be a strong man to lock the door.

Breakfast.
We hadn`t booked as didnt know we needed to so went down art 8.00 am and hung around as no one about, Eventually tapped kithen door and asked where went for breakfast to be told first breakfast was not booked till 8.30.
But then ELLE took conrol of us and have to say was the most helpful person we came across during the entire stay. We have a small dog ( which we paid £7.50 a night for which was a rip off) so were seated in the bar which was no problem for us except the flys, flys everywhere so we moved tables which wa sno better. Cannot understand why no fly control.
Elle checked if dog wanted water etc and really did look after us.
Breakfast itself was a lot of money at £7.50 as most pubs etc would include it in price. The sausage had been precooked so was not hot.everything else was ok.

Evening meal
Booked table for 7.30 outside butcame down early which was just as well as bar was busy and waited to get served kept explaining to bar person we had table outside booked but she kept wanting us to eat inside no idea why.
Was given and I just stood there as no idea what to do anyway we were lead to a table outside and given choice to wait for service and bring our order in so brough torder in which was not a problem.
Again bar busy with 1 person serving so waited to order.
We sat for so long outside waiting for food I almost gave up. It arrived but no cutlery or condiments so had to ask.
The main meal took for ever to arrive but I spotted the waiter taking our food around and waved. The plates for the starters were still where we had eaten so we moved them an dI pointed out once again we no cutlery. None arrived so wen tin but met waiter coming out with them.
We had fish and chips, chips bland and not crisp, batte ron fish was very good but fish was small
No one asked us at anytime how the meals were.

Payment
Paid for the meal and rooms at same time was not asked at anytime how the meal was or the stay.

Value fo rmoney
Not good value. It really is just a pub doing average food with rooms.
Would we stay again maybe is they sharperned the serrvic eup

Room Tip: avoid room 4
