“An oasis in rural France”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights last week and only wished it was longer!
From the moment we arrived Sarah (our hostess) was warm and very welcoming. We had 2 adjoining rooms with a large bathroom. We loved the pretty garden, used the fabulous pool and enjoyed the cosy living room (with a huge assortment of English books and toys)b The breakfasts were sensational (fresh croissants, still warm hard boiled eggs, yoghurt and fresh berries and homemade jams from Sarah's garden). Luckily we made the decision to dine in both nights...Sarah made us two delicious meals with her home grown produce and other local goods. We visited a couple of local attractions (the Niaux caves and chateau Lastours) on her recommendation and were very impressed with both.
We left feeling relaxed and spoiled....highly recommended.

Many people say that they would like to get away from it all. Well we were fortunate enough to find that very exceptional place. We had been enjoying some time in Spain at the beginning of this year and on our journey back to the UK we stopped off at Domaine Thomson which had been recommended to us by a friend. On arrival we were given an extremely warm welcome by the owner who immediately offered us a nice hot drink before showing us around her warm comfortable and well appointed home. Well decorated with some very nice antiques acquired at local 'brocantes' the attractive bedrooms had super en-suites concealed from the rooms behind what looked like large wardrobe doors, very clever. Although it was the end of January and beginning of February we thought the grounds with their own swimming pool must be a veritable sun-trap in the spring & summer in their beautiful setting at the foot of the Pyrenees. We have said we intend to return in high season and at the risk of disturbing the tranquilty we would have no hesitation in recommending Domaine Thomson to friends and family.

Together with family we've rented this place for a week, too bad it was only one week...
The house is located very quiet township. The house is maybe not state of the art, but it's very charming. In the kitchen everything you needed was there, clean bedrooms, all with a very nice view. With breakfast/lunch/dinner we always sat outside under the tree, really lovely.
The swimming pool is very clean, right amount of chlorine, umbrella's and loungers. The location of the swimming pool is also very beautifull, flowers around, makes it even more relaxing.
I would advice this place to all kind or groups, family, friends, young, old. If you want to enjoy the beautifull France, this is one of the places to go.

Furthermore you'll get a warm welcome of the friendly host when you arrive and if you have questions during your stay, you can always call her, she'll be happy to help you.

I spent 11 nights at Domaine Thomson, and it was the most relaxing trip I have ever taken. Sarah was most definitely warm, welcoming and knowledgeable on local issues, and places to visit. She is a marvellous cook, serving up copious amounts of all her own home-grown organic veg, and buying meat and fish locally, supporting the local community and young farmers just starting out.
The locals were also friendly, and I had the chance of meeting a couple during my stay. The life style there is very slow paced and relaxed.
The room was clean, aired and spacious and furnished with antique furniture befitting the style and age of the property. To my surprise nestled behind what seemed like a built-in wardrobe was a lovely ensuite shower room including a wc, and basin. I most definitely had a room with a view, looking out onto the back of the property. The shuttered windows opening out onto beautifully kept gardens.
The guesthouse also has a huge handbuilt barbeque, and boasts a large outdoor swimming pool, which was just warming up for the summer season ahead. I spent many afternoons up by the pool reading a book or sitting on the edge dangling my legs in the water. A private pool just for me.... perfect!
It was a great place to just chill, or as some of the other reviewees have mentioned to use as a base for sightseeing. The surrounding countryside is pretty awesome and it is of course surrounded by the many castles (chateaus) where you can while away the hours at leisure. I had such a relaxing holiday I came home completely refreshed, and I would recommend Domaine Thomson as a relaxing retreat to anyone.

We came into the area for a friends wedding and Sarah could not have been more helpful. She explained the French ways of a wedding and what we would be expecting and with that the surprise that French weddings go through the night until 5am. She then offered to pick us up if we couldn't get back. This small gesture goes to show you how helpful she is, how wonderfully at home she makes you feel. Breakfast was ready at whatever time worked for us, she was so accommodating for late notice for dinner. The B & B is also superbly tranquil a real hide away in a small quaint town. Sarah's inside knowledge of the area is unprecedented and she can help guide you to the best walks in the countryside through to small village fetes. The rooms are delightful and the whole stay was great value for money. I would head back again in an instant so cannot recommend highly enough.

We only stayed one night because we were on the move, but I wish we could have stayed a week. Sarah was a very pleasant hostess, and cooked a great dinner for us. She can also give you lots of information on the area. Beautiful and peaceful...

My family and I spent 3 days with Sarah at the beginning of our French holiday. The accomodation was clean and more than adequate and the breakfasts were great. Both father and son are cyclists and Sarah ensured they received a hearty breakfast which always included eggs. (Something we missed on the rest of our holiday)
Every evening, we came back to a home cooked meal - Sarah introduced us to a number of new vegetables.
The pool was a welcome respite and despite the inclement weather, we used it on a number of occasions.
Sarah's genuine interest in her clients makes this establishment stand out from any of the others we visited during our stay in France.
We will most definitely pencil this in for our next visit to France.
