Lets face it one of the reasons we visit France is for the food and excellent it generally is but, especially at the cheaper end it does tend to get a bit samey and after a while you get a bit fed up with seeing the same dishes again and again. The French dont really get vegetarian food nor do they go for ethnic food unless it comes from a part of their former empire so opening a veggie place serving mainly Indian food is a bit brave. Add to this that everything is organically sourced and I'm surprised the owner didn't get arrested. However this is exactly what Le Cardomone is and the food is wonderful and should be tried by carnivores too because you will seldom have tasted anything this delicious. The menu is small but everything on it is great and it doesn't matter if you just want a snack or a drink, the owner is happy to serve anything from a cup of tea to a full blown thali meal. Its lovely to wash down a samosa with an organic beer and watch the world go by. The owner is a cool guy with an air of having seen it all, genuinely friendly with a great palate. If all the above weren't enough its open 7 days a week, serving from 9 til 9 and ....... it is really affordable too!
If you find yourself in the square in Mirepoix and in the mood for something different, a beer and a snack will only set you back a few euros and I think you'll be glad you did!
