We booked this hotel on recommendation from a guide book as a highlight of our driving tour of France. It was the most expensive and by far the worst room we stayed in. Advertised as a hotel with "beautifully decorated rooms in a restored chateau with views over the River Lot" it should have been idyllic and no doubt would have been if we had been given the room we had booked. Having booked a "chambre deluxe" we were in fact given a small, damp, dark room with barely enough room to walk round the bed. The view out of a filthy small window was only of the Lot if you opened it wide and looked down. The bathroom was part of the same room with a partial petition. There was no toilet in the room. We had to use the public toilet across a small lobby just off the main hallway of the chateau. We foolishly paid before seeing the room and as the chateau was full, we had no option but to accept the room. On asking for a reduction, we were told all the rooms had the same tariff which is obviously not the case on the website.
We felt strongly we had been bumped off by other (French) guests and would seriously recommend you don't book this place unless your French is excellent and you can stand up for your rights!
