“Amazing sunset sailing experience!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

This was our first time on a sailboat, and my husband and I were very much looking forward to it! We were able to book the sunset sail the day that we wanted to do it, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Captain Jim did a great job in explaining the history of the "True Love" sailboat and also the areas that we would be sailing. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit around the boat. The first hour was sailing north on Seneca Lake towards Hector Falls, which was great to see since we didn't even know that it was there. They also had drinks aboard the boat, and the Hazlitt Red Cat was a good choice for a sweet red wine. The next hour was sailing back towards the dock. It was during the second hour that you got some food to snack on, and the crew made their rounds several times as there was plenty of it…which is what really good, especially the hummus! The sailing experience was very smooth and relaxing! The 2 hours was a perfect sailing trip! If you take the sunset sail, make sure to bring a light sweater/jacket as it does get a bit chilly when the sun goes down (which I was very glad to have brought my sweater). I would highly recommend the sunset sail on the "True Love"! It's a great way to see Seneca Lake and all that is around it! Thank you for such a great and memorable experience!

“Enjoyable”

My husband and I and my mom and dad went on the morning tour across the lake. My first trip on a sailboat, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Friendly, friendly crew that warmly welcomed us and attended to us offering coffee and blankets on our cool morning run. Great morning on the lake.

“Excellent Afternoon Sail on "True Love"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

Took the wife and kids (13 and 11) on the "True Love" this afternoon, and had a wonderful time. Captain Jim and crew Gavin and Matt were all very friendly, engaging, and eager to make sure we had a great cruise.

The boat will cruise with a maximum of 23 guests, and there were 18 on our tour. There was plenty of room for that number of people, although a few more cushions for seating would make it even more comfortable. There were plenty of waters and soft drinks, and Matt and Gavin were happy to get you one whenever you asked. The beer selection wasn't the greatest (although not terribly priced at $4), so we opted for a glass of local wine ($6); the dry Riesling was nice; the pinot grigio was ok but a little sweet.

I sat with Captain Jim for a while and enjoyed his stories about sailing the Virgin Islands (he actually sailed on this boat down there years ago--the True Love has been on Seneca Lake since 2008). Ask him about his "little airplane" too.

The wind was very light for most of our 2 hour cruise, so we had the motor on with the sails up for the entire way out to Hector Falls (third highest waterfall in NY State). On the way back, we finally had a bit of wind, so were able to cut the motor and sail along for a while.

Matt and Gavin had my 11 year old help take down the sails as we headed back in.

All in all, a nice way to spend a couple hours on Seneca Lake.

“2nd time was the charm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

Bad weather postponed our Wed noon sail to Thurs. My goodness, so glad we stayed over & did this! A glorious 2-hour sail "tacking" back & forth across the beautiful Seneca Lake up to Hector Falls and back. Gorgeous boat, crew was very gregarious, and the lake is stunning.
